The Rolling Stones : Out Of Our Heads 8B/12A
This mono record plays to a wonderful standard with only one click! There is hardly any static either and hasn't been over-played judging by the spindle wear. The vinyl is one of the 'cleanest' I have seen on the red Decca label
Perhaps this unboxed grooved Decca record should be deemed as a first pressing as it certainly has the first label variation that was produced. It has the BIEM/NCB box on the right side of the label and the KT tax stamp above it with no letter S.

Visual grading
This vinyl I suspect has not been played a great deal as there is not very much spindle wear and is one of the cleanest examples you will find. It has a stunning glossy sheen and S1 has only one small scuff type line and a very small number of mega faint hairlines. S2 is even better and I can only detect a couple of faint hairlines. There are no scratches and the run out grooves and labels are also in superb condition.
Play grading
'She Said Yeah' begins proceedings with powerful audio and no interference. There is barely any distortion here which is rare for this 'high octane' track. A Near Mint start.
With complete silence in the dead wax 'Mercy, Mercy' plays with excellent clarity from the very first note. There is one faint click later on but it is quiet and easily missed as is very much 'buried' in the music. There is one more click that is more obvious but that is the only obvious intrusion on the entire track.
'Hitch Hike' is without fault and has no clicks or pops. It has that 'raw' sound that you only find on the first and early mono pressings.
'That's How Strong My Love Is' plays with superb depth and warmth from start to finish. There is no interference and this really is a stunning version of this cover. Plus a sublime fade out.
'Good Times' is of the same impressive standard and plays with Near Mint precision. Again the definition of the sound is very much in evidence here, very strong bass, and there is not even a dust tick let alone anything more.
'Gotta Get Away' ends the side with that great 'raw' power again and no interference. There is barely any inner groove distortion which is rare on any final mono track being played through a stereo set up.that you always find on this track but that is to be expected of course. The fade out is again 'as new'.

'Talkin' 'Bout You' on S2 plays superbly from the word go. It's rare for the first few grooves on a record of this age to play so cleanly. There is nothing to detract from the quality of the audio here - there is no real 'background' just a minimal touch of barely audible static here and there, barely worth a mention really! The fade out is again so 'clean' giving a fine example of the clarity on offer here.
'Cry To Me' does not disappoint either and plays to a very high standard. There is hardly any static and only a little distortion towards the end perhaps. However, this is a somewhat raucous section and this is to be expected from a mono record. It still plays extremely well!
'Oh, Baby...' plays without fault and again it is clear this vinyl has not been over-played. There is no obvious interference and the playback is very strong indeed. The fade out is perfect!
'Heart Of Stone' has only a mega tiny hint of static on the intro and then plays with great power and definition. There is no interference, just the usual 'raw' sound that so much of the album.
'The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man' plays with far greater definition than many of the tracks and you can easily tell it was recorded in a different studio! There is more depth in a way, the bass is certainly more evident. This is a highly impressive version and again there are no clicks, pops, static or crackle. Every note of the piano can be heard clearly on the end section.
'I'm Free' ends the album with excellent audio quality and no sign of any interference.
In summary this album plays with real quality and only the one obvious click on S1. I would say this is the most 'raw' sounding album in the Stones' catalogue but it is still an excellent of songs that display impressive clarity on this super clean vinyl. There is hardly any static and there is no crackle to speak of. The cover is has also been very well maintained and has very little shelf wear.
The Cover
The 'Clarifoil' cover printed by 'Robert Stace' in in lovely condition with only minimal shelf wear. The edges and spine have no rubbing/marking and the corners also remain remarkably free of any obvious wear, there is just a mega tiny amount on a couple. The opening edge does have a little handling wear but not an excessive amount. The front cover is very clean with no marking but there are a few small laminate creases on the right side and around the edges which is common. No laminate lifting or splits though. The back cover is in great shape with just one small mark near the top edge, a little ringwear and some minor creasing. Overall this is a fine example that has been well cared for down the years.
Inner Sleeve
The original poly-lined sleeve has no splits or tears and only a little creasing and age related fading. A very clean example.
The Labels
The grooved labels have lost none of their original deep red colour and have no marking or writing. There is a little spindle although not that much.
