Description
Welcome to my vinyl auctions.
Over the coming months I will be listing a remarkable record collection for auction on ebay. This collection belonged to my friend Brian, one of the most discerning record collectors I have ever known. Brian started buying records in 1966 when he was a teenager. His infatuation for vinyl developed into a career and he eventually ended up working for RCA records and CBS/Sony records as a disc mastering engineer from 1977 to 1989. Brian’s not with us anymore, and I’m making good on my promise to him to sell his records in lovingly-prepared auctions which reflect the love he had for his vast LP collection. The proceeds are going to his family.
Brian’s collection is the kind that rarely comes up for sale. He had great taste in music and collected vinyl seriously for 40 years, taking superb care of his collection. To see all of Brian’s records that I currently have listed, click here.
I grade records conservatively, to ensure your satisfaction as the buyer. All LP’s will be shipped promptly in reinforced record-mailing boxes. Because of the size of this collection, I will be listing these records in sections, so you might want to bookmark my listings page and keep checking back. Also, if you want to be notified when a new block of records is listed, drop me a line with your email address.
It’s a while since I’ve listed any LPs on ebay, but for a sample of the excellent feedback I received last time I did, please follow this link.
This month I’m listing the last of Brian’s ROLLING STONES records.

Further Notes:
Perhaps no LP signifies the arrival of The Rolling Stones as a major contender than this one. Originally issued in the United States in 1965 it was the first LP to truly capture the essence of the early Stones for all to hear. Jagger had finally matured beyond his initial r’n’b posturing into something totally original. Keith was writing most of the hit-making originals by this point and the band had developed what can only be described as the core values of what truly defined the Stones – dangerous, sexy, malevolent, and vulnerable.
Yes this is where one found the single “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”. Yes this is where one can count the clogged pores and zits on Keith’s face, (not to mention Brian’s), and yes this is where it all clicked…the defiant sound of teenagers everywhere finding out that there was more to life than to wanna hold your hand.
The LP is in VG+ condition with plenty of light marks but plays beautifully with not much surface noise, and has the absolute overkill of having the most powerful bass on any version of this record extant – beating out the FFRR and the French Decca version for BALLS.
The cover is the thing of beauty here, in cellophane and with the original sticker proclaiming “THE ROLLING STONES’ Greatest Album featuring I Can’t Get No SATISFACTION” on it. If there was a cover worth framing, this is the one – it is pristine.
The LP is in MONO and that’s how all the early Stones records were mixed. Stereos are mostly fake or hadn’t been utilized except on foreign compilations – mono being the optimum way for this music to hit you in the gut or groin – the choice being yours.
All records are cleaned on a VPI 16.5 and are ready to play – records are never playgraded until they are cleaned properly – that way an accurate grading can occur. All records are placed in new Nitty Gritty sleeves and if there is an original sleeve present it is contained in the package for completeness.
