Description
The Rolling Stones was The Rolling Stones' debut album, which was released by Decca Records on 16th April 1964. The album reached #1 in the UK album chart. You can find more information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_Stones_(album).
The record has the matrix numbers XARL-6271-1A and XARL-6271-3A, so it is one of the first issues, but not quite a 1st press. It is not warped. It has fingerprints and the like, so it needs cleaning, but there are no scratches or scuffs. I have not played it for 40 years so cannot confirm it plays with no jumps, sticks or skips, but when I did play it I never had a problem with it; and looking at it now, I believe that it would play well. The labels have no rip but do have faint spindle marks.
The cover has wear on the top edge where the laminated picture is beginning to peel. The spine has some age spots, but the wording - "THE ROLLING STONES" and "DECCA MONO LK4605" is still legible. The back is a little grubby in place, and the top 'fold over' has lost its shiny lamination. Also there is a 1-inch mark in blue biro (see picture 2).
The sleeve is the original Decca sleeve. It has no rips or tears. It has some age discolouration, but apart from that it is in very good condition for a 50 year old sleeve (see pictures 3 and 4).
I have owned this copy of the album since I bought it shortly after it was released in 1964. I am selling because I am downsizing.
