· THE RUNAWAYS (FEATURING, OF COURSE, JOAN JETT, WITH KIM FOWLEY AS SONGWRITER, ARRANGER, PRODUCER AND BACKING VOCALIST) - QUEENS OF NOISE - ORIGINAL 1976 KENDUN STUDIOS (KENT DUNCAN'S LEGENDARY RECORDING STUDIOS IN BURBANK, CA) STEREO 2-DISC SET (NO NUMBER)
· ORIGINAL U.S. PRESSING

· IMPORTANT: DISC #1 IS NOT ENTIRELY BLANK ON THE FLIP SIDE: ON THE "BLANK " SIDE, THIS DISC ACTUALLY HAS A BRIEF SNIPLET OF "I LOVE PLAYING WITH FIRE" WHICH BREAKS OFF ABRUPTLY RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A GUITAR SOLO (ROUGHLY A MINUTE AND A HALF INTO THE SONG) ; THE BRIEF SEGMENT APPEARS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE FULL TAKE OF THE SONG ON DISC 2 (LESS "BUSY", LESS EQUALIZED, LESS REVERB, LESS FINISHED) AND WE SUSPECT THAT THIS IS AN EARLY DEMO OF THE SONG (THE BRIEF SEGMENT IS NOT ACCOUNTED ANYWHERE: EITHER ON THE LABELS OR ON THE HANDWRITTEN COVER)

The Runaways didn't compromise a bit on their outstanding sophomore effort, Queens of Noise. Melodic yet tough and aggressive, this is hard rock that pulls no punches either musically or lyrically. Classics like "Neon Angels (On the Road to Ruin)," "Take It or Leave It," and "I Love Playing with Fire" wouldn't have been shocking coming from Aerosmith or Kiss, but suburban adolescent girls singing openly and honestly about casual sex, intoxication, and wild all-night parties was certainly radical for 1977. Joan Jett and Cherie Currie articulated the thoughts and feelings of the "bad girls" Kiss and countless others were describing, and they didn't hesitate to say that yes, women fantasized about sex. "Johnny Guitar" is a fine vehicle for guitarist/singer Lita Ford, who had solid chops before she was old enough to vote. Queens of Noise would be Currie's last album with the groundbreaking band.

· CONDITION:
· THE RECORDS
(Unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
IMPORTANT NOTE: While this acetate is in a beautiful state of preservation, we do expect bidders to understand that the aluminum-based, shellac-coated acetates can never be graded by using the exact, same stringent standards used by collectors for modern long-play, hi-fi LPs or singles. The buyer – if not familiar with acetate (reference) recordings - should be cautioned that these discs were intended for brief, limited use only; they were meant to be played only a few times, then discarded or destroyed. In view of this, the surface layer of the disc is manufactured in such a manner that it will wear off pretty quickly, even under normal conditions -- and specially if not handled with due care. Each subsequent playing increases wear and tear of the disc’s surface layer and diminishes the disc’s playability. This disc appears to have been unplayed recently and the grooves are still well-formed and fully visible.
This acetate is in about NEAR MINT , with some minor and superficial scuffs on the surface. Absolutely NO part of the shellac (surface layer) of the disc is missing, and the surface layer is NOT dented, chipped, broken or otherwise compromised.
ON A SCALE FROM 1-10 (where 10 is the best), WE GRADE BOTH RECORDS AS 9
· COVER (GENERIC KENDUN COVER WITH HANDWRITTEN INFO; THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIALLY RELEASED COVER ART)
THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has a completely split bottom seam This split seam was delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape
- Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on all three seams
- Cover has all four corners slightly worn / dinged / bent.
- Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the seams
- Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4
- Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record), probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.
- Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.
- Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease) in one of the corners.
NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER
