RARE original Indian first pressing of The Savages single "Simon Says" b/w "Gimme, Gimme Good Loving" on HMV Records (1969).
A chart-topping Indian single at the time of its release, the bubble-gum pop of "Simon Says" was a far cry from the psychedelicised weirdness of, say, "Ode To The Messiah". Taking into account that it was The Savages that backed Usha Iyer on much of her early broad palette, this merely demonstrates the trademark versatility of this amazing band.
GRADING:
VG+ SLEEVE, in fine condition for its age. Please see photos for details.
- Small seam splits (1" long each) to bottom, as well as one side.
- A few tears and some minor overall degradation to the opening edge, as shown.
- Small ink stamp ("2590") on back of sleeve.
VG+ RECORD in very fine all-round condition.
- Peerless audio reproduction throughout.
- Light general hairlining to both sides.
- A few non-sounding, tiny scuffs when viewed under bright light.
- Some crackle in run-in grooves, as well as in the run-off.
- Matt-black His Master`s Voice labels with a single, light spindle line on each side.
