Right Now And Not Later b/w The Train From Kansas City-The Shangri-Las (Red Bird RB 10-036) Released in 1965

Produced by Ronald Moseley & Robert Bateman
Co-written by Robert Bateman, he would play a large part in the infant years of Motown Records. While he produced and composed for Motown, he was also a member of The Satintones, one of the early male groups signed to the Motown label, releasing some of the smoothest tracks even by today's standards. He would also play a big part in the success of The Marvelettes' first hit 'Please, Mr. Postman' and a couple of later hits for them.
Bateman left Motown in 1963 to pursue interests in New York. He free lanced until he stumbled upon Red Bird's offer to 'Motown' a few artists and to see where the results go. Though the 'A' side of this track would echo Holland-Dozier-Holland's productions with The Supremes, the Shangri-Las didn't seem like a good fit with 'The Sound of Young America', and tanked after this single's initial release, scraping the bottom of Billboard's Top 100 Pop Chart.
Bateman would shortly after work for Capitol Records, then freelance again until his death, October 12, 2016.
