VINYLRECORDS - VISUAL & AUDIO: EX- / EX+ : The record has obviously been played before - butoverall the record looks to be in excellent condition - an excellent minusgrade. Audio is also excellent - an excellent plus grade for overall soundquality.
OUTERCOVER: EX : Tiny cornerwear and a few minor marks but overall in excellent condition.
INNERSLEEVE: EX : Originalinner sleeve - excellent condition.
VinylRecord Grading System
So as to try and avoiddisappointment I play all records before listing them and attempt to grade themas conservatively as I can using the following guide - however please rememberthat some vinyl records regardless ofcondition can still have an occasional tiny tic :-
MINT (M):
The record itselfwill be unplayed and in brand new condition with no surface marks ordeterioration in sound quality.
The cover and anyextra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster will be in perfectcondition.
NEAR MINT (NM):
The record willappear like new but will be known to have been played before because it hascome from
a previous ownerand the record will therefore be assumed to have been played by them - thelabel might have some light spindle marks. The cover and any extra items suchas the lyric sheet, booklet or poster will be in near perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX):
The record mightshow some signs of having been played before and there may be some infrequentlight surface/background noise and/or some occasional light ticks duringplayback but there will be very little lessening in sound quality and overallstill a great copy. The cover and packaging will have slight wear and / orcreasing.
VERY GOOD (VG):
The record willobviously have been played many times before, it may have some obvious lightbackground noise (crackles/ticks) but no real major deterioration in soundquality, despite any noticeable surface marks or the occasional light scratch.The cover will have normal wear and tear also on any extra items, without anymajor defects, is also acceptable.
GOOD (G):
The record willhave been played so much that the sound quality will have noticeablydeteriorated, perhaps with some
distortion andmild scratches. The cover and contents will suffer from folding, scuffing ofedges, spine splits, discolouration, etc
For any recordsthat appear to fall between the above grades a plus (+) or minus (-) sign willbe added to try and provide a more accurate grading.
