Description
THE QUEEN IS DEAD Label : SIRE Catalogue No. : 1-25426 Pressing: 1986
"The Queen Is Dead" is the third album by the English alternative band The Smiths. It was released in June, 1986.
Two friends wander into a local record shop. While browsing through the used LP section friend one states
"Hey, A Smiths record. I wonder if it's any good." Friend two replies "It's by The Smiths ain't it!" "The Queen Is Dead"
is regarded as The Smiths finest album. It was released just as the band was reaching it's peak! It blends jangle rock,
punk rock and British Invasion influences in much the same way as the Kinks did in the late sixties. In the outstanding
tracks category virtually the entire album applies. It ranked number 26 on "Rolling Stones Top 500 Greatest Albums
Of All Time" list. and number 2 on NME's "Greatest British Albums" list. There are numerous other "Greatest" lists
and charts that have recognized this LP. Is this an excellent album or what?!!!
Outstanding Tracks:
The Queen Is Dead, Frankly Mr. Shankly, Cemetry Gates, Bigmouth Strikes Again
Condition:
Jacket: VG+ The gatefold jacket for this LP is in great shape! The only variation is maybe that it hase
faded just a little over the years. There are small and insignificant signs of usage.
There is very light ring wear that is just starting on the back side. It has some edge and
corner wear that is minor.
Included is the original picture inner sleeve that has the sides blown out.
Vinyl: VG/VG+ The vinyl plays just fine with minimal background sound. In normal conditions it looks
great, however under light there are numerous light paper trails at the surface. There
are also some light and small scratches. These flaws absolutely do not interfere with
the overall sound quality. The record has been used, not abused. The record is not
pristine so elitist need not apply!
