The Smiths – The Queen is Dead
(For Grading purposes this album has been played before listing)
I have played this album from start to finish and found the audio to be of a excellent standard. Both sides have minor marks that didn’t come up during playback. Sleeve and inner are both looking good. Please further details below. Thank you.
12” Album – Gatefold Sleeve – Original Picture Inner sleeve
Rough Trade Records
Catalogue number: Rough 96
UK First Pressing 1985
The sleeve is sturdy and sound with no splits. There is no handwriting on the sleeve, nor any creases or sticker marks. Looks pretty good. Spine is in great shape too. There are no splits on any side. Only very mild rubbing to the sleeve corners.
Sleeve grades: Excellent
Side One
Excellent audio. No pops, clicks or jumps. Visually this side grades as Very good There are a few fine marks
Picture inner sleeve has no damage and is in excellent condition.
Side two
Also Excellent audio. No pops, clicks or jumps.
Visually this side grades as Very good -. Some light marks and a small superficial scratches which didn’t show up when playing back the album.
Side one matrix / stampers: ROUGH 96 A1. FEAR OF MANCHESTER. MPO
Labels are both in excellent condition.
Side two matrix / stampers: ROUGH 96 B1. THEM WAS ROTTEN DAYS. MPO
Over all this is still a stand up album from the Smiths. Plenty of stand out tracks that haven’t aged. The audio is great even if the disc isn’t pristine. Very presentable and listenable copy with plenty of playing life left in it.
GRADING I use the U.K Rare Record Guide grading system detailed below.
MINT The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
