This original 1968 debut record by Soft Machine was never released in the UK in this format (with the moving parts cover) but was a USA only release. Later pressings of this cover were censored due to a semi-naked lady behind the moving wheel on the front cover.
Cover: Unlaminated 1st pressing gatefold cover with moving parts. These covers are very fragile but this is one of the better ones and is fully complete and in working order. Rates as VG (outside) and Near Excellent (inside) - see photos.
Inner sleeve: Comes in a nice black abc Dunhill inner sleeve which is Exellent condition with just some creasing - see photos.
Vinyl: Play tested. Nice sheen for its age. Side 1 has a non-feelable but ugly scratch which runs across the first 4 tracks. It causes a few clicks on the second the track and the odd pop/click elsewhere. Side 1 therefore looks 'Good' but plays mostly 'VG'. Side 2 looks and plays 'VG'. Both sides have a little crackle commensurate with a record that is now 47 years old. This record had not been played for around 40 years before being play tested - so a light clean might be beneficial in bringing up to its best.
Labels: Excellent - no writings, doodles or stickers..
'SIGNED FOR' POSTAGE:
£4 (UK)
£8 (EUROPE - excluding Russia)
£12 (Russia & REST OF THE WORLD)
Gradings.......
Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.
Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.
Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc
Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
