SECOND ALBUM from the Sweet displaying their new forward thinking hard rock direction in effect ditching their power pop legacy for something a lot meatier. The riffs on this album are superb - real bone crunching stuff with great melodies, shout-it-loud hooks and killer vocals from Brian Connolly. A rack of superb songs including the Deep Purpleish 'Solid Gold Brass', 'Turn It Down' , 'Fox On The Run' and the brilliant instrumental 'Man With The Golden Arm', a nearly nine minute track with everything and the kitchen sink thrown in for good measure (drum solo, guitar mayhem etc).

I guess the thing about the Sweet was that they were always a stonking hard rock band desperately trying to break out of the pop niche that producers Chinn and Chapman had carved out for them. Well, this album flies 180 degrees in the opposite direction of pop. Its a wonderful testament to the power of great hard rock like the Who jamming with Deep Purple with a distinct sound and songs to die for.
