THE TEA COMPANY – “Come and Have Some Tea With The Tea Company” (1968) Smash-67105 original pressing Strong VG+/EX (cover/record)
A killer and overlooked NY psych-rock group that uses the term “tea” as a reference to marijuana. This whole thing is tripped out with jangly guitar and phase/delay effects. Plus they do a 9-minute cover of “You Keep Me Hanging On” more tripped out that Vanilla Fudge ever did. I’ve seen this compared to U.K. psych like The Pretty Things “S.F. Sorrow” and Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd. It’s a really good one and a fun listen.
This is an original pressing. These cover is in nice shape with only slight ring wear (that kind of blends into the cover art) and a drill hole. There was also a big check mark written with a marker on the front cover, but someone has mostly erased that and it’s blended into the ringwear (see photos). The white back cover slick is still clean and bright. The vinyl is clean and glossy and nice. Plays great. Conservative grading: Strong VG+/EX (cover/record).
I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!
