Description

Up for bid is a very rare top copy first pressing 7" EP, "Minor Disturbance," by The Teen Idles.

This is an original first press with a glossy flipback picture sleeve released by Dischord Records (no. 1).

7" is extremely clean and retains a nice gloss.  The vinyl is free of any surface marks and I just played both sides straight through with no pops or skips.  For a 35 year old record the vinyl itself looks perfect!

1st pressing front cover is glossy (surface scratches easily).  The cover is still intact/glued.  No sticker marks, just overall signs of wear due to the glossy cover they used.  1st pressing back cover does not have “Black Flag bars” drawn on Henry’s hand because, well…. Henry hadn’t even met Black Flag yet!

Vinyl etched matrix info reads NR-12367-1 "WHEREVER WE MAY ROAM..." / NR 12367:B "GEORGETOWN IS OUR HOME" with "JE" etched on both sides.

There were 1,000 copies in each pressing and it is super easy to tell the difference.  1st pressing covers are printed on a super glossy, much heavier stock (THIS).  They just look so much better than the 2nd pressing copies, which are printed on thin non-glossy paper, the ink saturation is so much lighter, and the cover art just looks “blown out”.

Please see photos…  This copy never came with a insert but I'll throw in a reprinted color flyer from one of their first shows.

After a year in existence, Jeff Nelson, Nathan Strejcek and Ian MacKaye formed Dischord Records to release the recordings. The band sent the tapes to a pressing plant in Nashville, Tennessee that specialized in pressing country music records. Initially puzzled by the request to put eight songs on a 7" record, they pressed 1,000 copies. For the cover, the band took apart another 7" record sleeve and used it as a template for their own cover design. They photocopied it on 11" × 17" paper, which the band members cut out with scissors, folded and glued by hand, then into these inserted the records.
