Brad Fiedel's timeless score has been remastered from the original tapes for this release and sounds as crisp today as it did in 1984. From the electric beat of Tech Noir to the mechanical thundering of Los Angeles' blood-soaked streets, the music of The Terminator transports you back in time.

"My Terminator film score collection has always had a gigantic missing piece and that was the soundtrack from the first film. It has always been an elusive score to track down and the previous ones that were released always had negative comments about being incomplete or not sequenced correctly etc. The original score has been out of print for over 20 years so when I stumbled upon this remastered version being released, I was a little skeptical over how the work would be treated and thrown out to us. I think it was back in July (2015) when Milan Records released a remastered version of the Robocop score: Robocop and I was always curious as to why Milan was being so gracious to release this for fans. After just now doing some digging around, it appears that this, and a few other releases, are part of a new collection from Milan records called the "Nicolas Winding Refn Presents Series". Who is Nicolas Winding Refn? He is a Danish film director who just loves vinyl records. He decided to partner with Milan records to produce high end vinyl records of movie scores. The vinyl copies of these releases are where all the goodies are. Colorful vinyl discs, cool artwork, and wonderful packaging really make these very "high end" looking indeed. 

There is also some other great news about this particular Terminator soundtrack release! The composer, Brad Fiedel, was actually involved with this reissue of his famous score. Various websites have recorded a statement from the composer where he says, "I am very happy to be involved with this release of the Terminator score." He goes on to say that this particular version is "in sync with my original vision of how the score should sound." When Fiedel was creating this score for the film, he was using some pretty high end electronic equipment for 1984 standards. Today, this "retro" sound and equipment is often sought out by fans and musicians alike. I can tell you that it all sounds fabulous on this release and listening to the score will certainly take you back to when you first saw the film. The score was mastered and mixed from the original tapes by Fiedel himself (according to Milan's website). Listening to the score today, you can really appreciate how unique it was. Unusual electronic ambient sounds, strange percussive rhythms (where at times they seem to be slightly out of sync producing really standout results) and a very memorable theme have made this a score that has been enjoyed by fans and modeled by some modern composer today. The score was Fiedel's first for a movie but it appears that the composer's real passion was for musical theatre and he would eventually pursue writing music for that venue. His last film score was in 1995 (Johnny Mnemonic), however his themes are still being used in continuing Terminator films.

This is certainly the release that you can listen to and hear how it all began. Mixed and remastered from the original source tapes by Fiedel himself, this certainly is a wonderful gift from Milan records and Nicolas Winding Refn. I now have that missing score and it sounds great. There are 17 tracks on the release that gives you a running time of 1 hour and 9 minutes. If you want all the extra goodies...better pick it up on vinyl. I recommend!" - Fan of This Soundtrack Release.
