WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original CBS Records very first Mono press released by CBS Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1970 by Philips Chilena S.A. (Philips Records), licensed from C.B.S., England, through CBS, Argentina, catalog number 90.097, with hand etched matrix numbers 90097-A EB-CD in Side A and 10097-B EB-CD in Side B, with traditional orange/black CBS Records labels with small boxed CBS logo at top and 3-prong push-out center. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“Yellow River”, the song which became a worldwide hit by Christie, was originally recorded by The Tremeloes early 1970, but the song was never released and in February they released “By The Way”. Early ‘70’s The Tremeloes came to Argentina and Chile (they were in the Viña Del Mar International Song Festival, February 1970, Chile) so, after the worldwide success of “Yellow River” by band Christie, they recorded a version of “Yellow River” in Spanish for South American market (it was also released in Spain) with the Spanish lyrics sung over the original backing track (the version by Christie also takes the original backing track recorded by The Tremeloes, same music and chorus but different lead voice), but ONLY IN CHILE this song in Spanish was released with “By The Way” as Side B and as you can see we also got an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, made of a single piece of hard paper folded in the middle with back cover pasted on the flips of front cover. Front and back cover keep the same dark pale green-tinted design, with a picture of the band, the name of the band with the title “Cantan En Castellano” (Sing In Spanish) and song title “No Comprendes”, with catalog number and CBS Records logo at top left corner in front cover and only the name of the band, both song titles and additional “Disco Es Cultura” (Record Is Culture) in back cover. In labels, song titles are written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about licenses and play time of each song. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE and UNIQUE PRESS of this already rare classic single by The Tremeloes SUNG IN SPANISH, with Spanish-written titles and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE ONLY USED HERE IN CHILE, a record almost never seen and maybe now auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of The Tremeloes and British Invasion!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG- or even VG condition, with ring marks, many creases and rips, evident age browning, some discoloration and faint blemishes, small writings in front cover and residues of a tape in the spine, with some tears and severe wear in the mouth edge, with seam splits at spine and the bottom edge, but as you can see the artwork is still complete. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, with loads and loads of soft scuffs, hairlines and light scratches, which don’t affect play at all, with the push-out center intact. Labels on both sides are in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, with some spindle hole wear, evident discoloration and small writings in both sides. The sound is the best part, it’s in strong EX+ or even NM- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with only constant soft crackles, some hiss and occasional light clicks here and there, more evident in the last seconds of each song, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, maybe this record could not to be for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles considering the picture sleeve, but sure this is still a great record in this MEGARARE AND UNIQUE PRESS, with UNIQUE DARK PALE GREEN-TINTED PICTURE SLEEVE USED ONLY IN CHILE and with a record with still a nice glossy look, fully readable labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 50 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and sure will satisfy any serious collector who knows the level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
