THE VELVET FROGS "JEHOVAH" b/w "ARCHEOLOGY""
OAK RECORDS ACETATE
This SUPER rare item cropped up on the OAK RECORDS album, as the most outstanding track of the lp. I set about trying to uncover a copy..... little knowing that only maybe 3 ever existed, and 2 of those were owned by the band's singer/composer. He had loaned one copy to be used for the album.
Oddly, when he finally put his up on Ebay (some ten years ago), it happened that he lived only a few miles from my village! .....so I was able to visit and see his acetate copies. There were 2 of this and 1 other acetate.
Unfortunately I lost the bid on Ebay - but could buy his second copy here, which had been damaged under a chair leg. I played it after some work on the dent, and although not perfect, it did play through with a couple of skips.
It's 2-sided of course, both good psych compositions.
I present it here as a collectible rarity, perhaps for an understanding OAK acetate collector.... and perhaps it may be repaired a little more, so the skips can be played through. No guarantee that it will, but mostly it does play through okay and sound reasonably decent.
CONDITION;
The disc is a metal based ACETATE so is not durable for limitless plays, and any needle weight should be applied with care. There are visual cracks or crazing, but not all over. As a collectible, it's unquestionably rare. Not in great condition as can be seen, not flat or without flaws, so it has to be sold as seen.
Labels are VG++ as seen in the photos. Titles are in pen, artfully scribed in my view.
