Description

The Velvet Underground & Nico 1967 Verve 1st State Uncensored "Torso" Cover

Mega rare copy with an uncensored "Torso" first print cover. Andy Warhol's banana sticker is unpeeled and fully intact with only some light dings, scuffs and edge wear. I grade the cover as Very Good Plus due to the cover having some wear on the spine. The cover, including the interior gatefold, are very clean and doesn't have ring wear. Some occasional age discoloration, edge and corner wear. Cardboard gatefold 1st State Uncensored "Torso" cover with the upside-down image of Eric Emerson, which was projected on the wall behind the band while they were performing at the Exploding Plastic Inevitable event. Only a small amount of these uncensored covers went on sale before Emerson threatened with a lawsuit and MGM had to withdraw the cover and censored Emerson's image with a black sticker, and subsequently airbrushed the image. The clean cover doesn't have any writing, dirt or marks. Occasional corner wear and some light edge scuffing. It's incredibly hard to find a cover with a whole banana sticker and the uncensored image of Eric Emerson on the back. The album comes with the original Verve Records inner sleeve in a great condition. The Verve Records labels with the Mono catalog number V-5008 have a misprint on Side 2, indicating the incorrect timing for "I'll Be Your Mirror". I grade the vinyl Good as it has marks, hairlines and scuffs from the inner sleeve. The labels are in Very Good Plus condition. Don't miss the opportunity to acquire this extremely rare uncensored East Coast Stereo pressing. Perhaps, it isn't the most perfect copy of The Velvet Underground & Nico copy I've sold, but nevertheless, but it still works great for starting a record collection.
