Description

Up for sale in this auction is a rare early pressing of The Velvet Underground and Nico LP. This is the third state where the Emerson photo has been airbrushed.

The matrix for Side A is:
V6-5008 SIDE.1 MGS-558 REV

The matrix for Side B is:
V6-5008 SIDE-2 MGS-559-RE-1

Both sides have a block S in the dead wax. That with the font on the center label and the 1.25" pressing ring diameter indicate a pressing from MGM Record Manufacturing Division, Bloomfield New Jersey.

Vinyl is in G+ shape with some marks and some scratches present that may affect playback. This record is highly collectible and is sold as-is. Rated at G+ conservatively. Jacket is in VG- shape with some ringwear, some wear around the edges and some discoloration/yellowing present. The top seam has split which is visible in one of the photographs. Rare record that would be great for any collector!

Please see photos or ask questions before bidding!

Goldmine Grading System:

  • SS  Still Sealed
  • M  Mint - Perfect in all ways.
  • M- Mint Minus - Near perfect, most likely and unplayed record
  • NM- Near Mint Minus - Extremely well cared for record. Probably a record that's been around for some years but extremely well looked after, but still not quite new enough to call Mint.
  • VG++ Very Good Plus - As close to NM as it comes.
  • VG+  Very Good Plus - Very close to like new with only superficial signs of use that do not affect playability. Only records stored and used with care will grade out to VG+.
  • VG Very Good - A used, reasonable copy that plays. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of some light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still nice and playable.
  • VG- Very Good Minus - A record with significant wear and marks. Records graded VG-usually have some noticeable surface noise.
  • G+ Good Plus. 'Good' means pretty beat up. From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about extremely beat up records.
