VERVE RECORDS ORIGINAL FIRST STATE EMERSON TORSO COVER STEREO GATEFOLD LP!

This is an original first state pressing in beautiful shape with the Emerson torso on the back cover. It comes from my personal collection. I bought it from a friend, who was the original owner, in the late-'70s. I played it once to record to cassette, put it away in a plastic bag with the record separated from the cover in an audiophile-quality rice paper inner sleeve, and it's been unplayed ever since. It's only come out of the plastic bag a couple of times to give it better plastic bags. It's now in a mylar bag and looks exactly like it did when I first got it. It's been handled very carefully!

The record is quite nice with a mild, silent hairline scuff on side 2 that does not affect play and is in strong VG++ to NEAR MINT condition with full luster. It plays great with just a little occasional crackle but nothing annoying.

The labels are nice & clean & vibrant with a name sticker on side one and just a few spindle marks.

The cover is fantastic. There's a bit of rub wear near the front top & bottom and some mild wear on the bottom corners. It retains it's glossy sheen with the white areas shiny & clean. No small feat as this cover is notorious for its ease of rub wear. The spine is very nice with no chipping. The back cover is very clean with barely-there rub wear. There is a hairline scratch in the middle of the picture, but it's barely noticeable. The inside gatefold is totally clean. The inside spine is perfect with no paper tear (a common problem). There is a name sticker by the label logo. The banana does have a clean tear at the stem with no loss of paper. The original owner told me he peeled it just enough to see what was underneath, so 95% of it was unpeeled.

The record will be shipped in an oversized Bags Unlimited multi-LP mailer with lots of cardboard so that there's plenty of space around the edges. I love and take pride in this album and my packing will reflect that.

This is a great copy, much better than most I've seen being offered on ebay. I've held many copies in my hands and this is the best one I've ever seen. It's a really awesome record!
