Description
THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO Torso STEREO Full Banana VERVE V6-5008 EAST COAST pressing as indicated by the "Side 1 and Side 2" as opposed to "Side A and Side B".
First pressing with full torso back cover featuring actor Eric Emerson before the image was censored with a sticker, then airbrushed out in subsequent pressings. STEREO East Coast pressing with "MGS 558 REV" etched in the runout grooves.
FULL BANANA featured on cover. This is almost impossible to find as these stickers were often removed. This copy has had the stem removed and replaced at some point, but the banana itself is in fantastic shape and the color is still vibrant.
VINYL in VG+/VG condition. There are only minor flaws to the condition, these early Verve issues are not known for silent vinyl and hi-fi sound. Even in Near Mint condition, there is some background noise from the vinyl itself (so I have discovered). Side 1 is VG+, a small light repeating crackle heard at very beginning of "Sunday Morning, but only lasts a short time then cleans up. Surface looks clean besides this one issue. Plays excellent.
Side 2 has a bit of noise at the very beginning of "Heroin", but again cleans up as the track goes on to VG+. The last track has a hairline that is slightly raised so there are moments during the song where you can hear a soft repeating click, not very loud and when the music gets going, this is hardly an issue. i noticed it at the beginning of the track mainly.
Side 2 has a few light paper scuffs/hairlines, but plays mainly VG+. I rate the overall condition VG to be on the safe side.
COVER in G+ condition because of the staining. If it weren't for that, I would put it as VG+. FULL BANANA it good shape. The stem was removed then replaced at some point. Staining especially on the front cover from old mildew. There is no mildew smell at all, this must have occurred a long time ago. A bit of staining on the back cover and a small area near the opening where there is a edge bump (see photos). Corner bumps on all corners, I took a detail picture of the top edge and corners where there is some chipping. Seams and spine are fully intact except a small area at the opening on the top right corner (see photos).
VERVE INNER SLEEVE in VG with yellowing, creasing, tear at the opening.
