1967 UK 1st pressing,STEREO VERVE SVLP 9184  (V6 5008)

Legendary 1st album of Velvet Underground (Lou Reed, John Cale, Nico/chanteuse) with tracks like "Sunday Morning", "I'm Waiting for the Man", "Heroin", "Femme Fatale" in deep psychedelic mood. A true masterpiece and a mega rare album up in auction.

COVER: Single,front laminated,flipback sleeve with File under POPULAR: Pop Groups (upper right flip on back cover)  and 6711 TPS  Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending (lower right flip on back cover).Front cover preserves whole lamination although lamination wrinkles exist (mostly around cover's edges.Stains (like mottling) around edges & flips.Small name written by pen on left upper corner on back cover.Traces of black paint(?) also on back cover-please check attached photos.Front cover still depicts a shiny and clean (enough) band performing/famous torso and band members as well-a very good (used) copy for such a heavily played album.

Spine is robust with a few lamination stained wrinkles but whole text is complete,intact and fully readable.Upper & lower cover's edges are straight while upper one has 2 cm tapped.Record opening is rubbed and a little creased-at least acceptable condition.

Bck cover has typical discolouration(such as in Beatles Parlophone releases) with all text/comments/press articles complete and fully readable.GRADE:VG+

RECORD: UK STEREO VERVE 1st pressing with silver & black VERVE labels.Matrix run-out:V6 5008 A2 1G /side 1, V6 5008 B2 1G/side 2,stamped .Both labels in excellent condition except small name written on side 1 (visible only when seen in angle) and side 2 (almost invisible,on silver VERVE logo).Althouh vinyl has many hairlines and a few superficial "scratrches" still has it's sheen while could be graded easily as EX-.GRADE:VG

AUDIO LISTENING: Record in auction has been playing tested all through (NOT only visually graded).Minor surface noise without ticks,clicks,skips,jams (except I'm Waiting for the Man), a very pleasant audio listening for this underground Holy Grail. Quiet passages in tracks like "Heroin","Sunday Morning","Venus in Furs" are "silent" with NO crackling at all-record plays great unless a..................MAJOR DEFFECT in the begining of "I'm Waiting For The Man" where there's a groove damage (from stylus?)-please see 12th photo- resulting to a constant pop/skip for approx. 25 secs (guitar beat & Reed's vocals for 25 secs are missing/skiping)-YES it's a compomise(you decide) for such a track while rest of record palys all through at least VG++/EX-.GRADE: VG to VG+ due to defect on track 1-rest of record grades VG++ to EX-.

A nice opportunity to acquire such a rarity even on this slightly sorry state-still a decent copy.
