THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO(1967)/VERVE(CAN)/V5008 NM-/NM(-)
The cover has light to medium surface/ring wear with corresponding corner/edge wear...there is an initial and a couple of peace sign doodles on the front. There is also a drill (delete) hole in the centre of the cover.
The heavy vinyl looks close to new for the most part, showing some light scuffs/marks...resulting in some ticks/static, but this is at a minimum, in only a half dozen (approx) spots....otherwise, it plays very cleanly, in the 8.9-9.5 range. The same initial/doodle from the cover is on one side of the label, as well as a corresponding drill (delete) hole.
I am using a SYSTEMDEK IIX (GRADO GOLD) and a DUAL 505-2 (ORTOFON OM10), both at 1.5G.
This is a Canadian pressed MONO issue on the VERVE label, in a standard single LP cover.....
unlike other (US) issues of this album, there is NO peel-able banana on the front...instead, what is, (on the US issue), the back, is now the front...featuring the non-air-brushed version of Eric Emerson's up-side down face...(this is extremely difficult to determine, since no high quality files of this seem to exist on the 'net, so it is a case of squinty-eyed comparison, but I am convinced it is an original issue).
The back (top half) has detailed production, song and band information with the bottom half dedicated to (positive) critic's reviews from various trade/news papers, of Andy Warhol's "Exploding Plastic Inevitable" tour performances, used to introduce/promote The Velvet Underground & Nico.
