Welte Legacy LCC 5860/73.
This is from Welte-Mignor "Vorsetzer" piano rolls. Passed on to Richard Simonson by Welte, these recordings are from the master-rolls, stored during World War II in a cave. Eventually, they were obtained by Walter S. Heebner, a record producer from RCA Capitol, etc., who put a well-functioning instrument, the rolls and considerable recording expertise together and made these recordings.
The piano was the 9' Steinway 261, reserved for Artur Rubinstein's west coast appearances.
These rolls sound more believable than those made using the other systems, with more definition of the distinctive sound qualities of each pianist
