Description
This is a gorgeous stock copy of a rare surf single by The Westwoods: "I Miss My Surfer Boy Too" b/w "Will You Love Me (Like You Did Last Summer)" (A&M 763). This record features an all-star line-up of talent. First of all, The Westwoods are actually The Honeys (Ginger Blake, Marilyn Rovell, and Diane Rovell), the girl group produced by Brian Wilson. The record is arranged by Jack Nitzsche and Marshall Lieb, two colleagues of Phil Spector. The B-side is co-written by Marshall Lieb and Herb Alpert, co-founder of A&M records.
What adds value to this record is the sleeve it comes in. On the sleeve is written a note: "Write to Chuck Kaye for leads!" Followed by some writing, in different hand-writing, which is hard to make out (if anyone can read it, let me know!). Some of you may know that Chuck Kaye was a publisher at A&M records, then later the head of Almo and Irving, Alpert and Moss's two publishing companies.
It's not unusual to see a white label promo go by on eBay, but this is a beautiful stock copy. No writing, stickers, no tears on the labels. And no drill hole. The vinyl is equally nice, though it appears that the writing left a slight impression on the vinyl (this actually helps to prove that this sleeve is original to this record).
Overall, the record is in EX+ condition.

It's been brought to my attention that this is not The Honeys, but in fact Marilyn Wilson (Marilyn Rovell, wife of Brian Wilson and a member of The Honeys) and Gracia Nitzsche (Jack Nitzsche's wife) on vocals. Others suggest that it's Diane Rovell on lead vocals, with Marilyn (who was supposed to do lead vocals, but had a sore throat) in the background.
That's all I know for now. As more information becomes available, I'll be sure to include it here.
