Description
This is a guaranteed original copy of the rare Whatnauts "On The Rocks" LP, Stang ST-1018. I acquired this album from the original owner who purchased it when it was new.
Condition: Jacket is superb, still in shrink with just a little wear to the right corners. Visually the vinyl is strong VG+ on side one, clean and glossy, but side two does have a V-shaped mark—more of a light abrasion than a scratch, like it brushed against a pencil eraser—that goes through the first three songs, making it impossible for me to give an accurate grade. If not for that mark side 2 is just as clean and glossy as side 1. See the photos of the record on my turntable where I've made this mark visible in the glare.
This is a case, however, where the vinyl plays MUCH better than it looks, and the mark is superficial enough that it causes very little surface noise even in quiet sections of the album. There are no skips, pops or anything unexpected here. I can't tell you how many records I've purchased that are described as (or look) VG+ (or better) and play worse than this particular LP.
Please listen to the sound sample which provides an excerpt of the intro from every song on the album, plus the beginning of the instrumental section of "Why Can't People Be Colors Too," which is generally considered the most important part of the LP.
