Alright, I know this is a real odyssey here because Reaction Records did not make 'A' lable Promos or Demos. However, when the factory pressed this single - evidently at the same period they were pressing Jimi Hendrix 'Hey Joe', there was a copy made just as a 'proof' that they probably just gave a spin at the time to make sure it played and sounded fine - before going ahead with a full 'run' of the single.
So - to put a lable on it they reversed Hendrix's debut 45 lable and just pressed into The WHO's
'Happy Jack' lable at the plant. (Polydor was the main lable that also carried Reaction Records, and several others). You can read the text reversed from the white side seen here!
So here it is, probably the one and only 'White Lable' Test Press for this single in existence.
It plays loud and clear, with the count-in on the flip, and the famous "I saw ya" from Pete Townshend at the end of the 'A' side.
(I believe the recording is exactly as the regular release pressed)
Condition;
Visually the vinyl is VG+/VG (A/B), but plays loud and clear, with some background 'dusty' sound
The lables are clean generally, the white is just slightly shabby with age, and there's the mottled flip with 'cut-off' edges (probably done deliberately so they knew which was the 'b' side at the time)
An extremely unusual rare WHO item - a 'one off' pressing!
