THE WHO – LIVE AT LEEDS – 1970 – ALL INSERTS – WRONG COVER – EX/VG
Firstly (see below for full details), this is a UK release vinyl and original inserts packaged in a cover from a German release of the period. Bearing in mind that it’s an EX vinyl with all 12 inserts and that the “wrong” cover is also in great condition, I think that I’ve priced it accordingly.
RECORD
Matrices: 2406001 A//3 420 04 14 23 BilBO and 2406001 B//4 420 04 12 12
Blue writing on label. Track Records Ltd and “Crackling noises OK Do not correct” Lovely glossy vinyl. Under a bright light, side one has sleeve lines, but nothing deeper than that and side two is similar with a couple of very light surface marks. In both cases, nothing deep enough to be a problem.
Both run-ins are just about silent, side 2 has a couple of ticks just before the music starts. All sounds great!
SLEEVE
I didn’t buy this from new and it wasn’t until I came to take photographs to list it that I realised that all along, I’d had a nice early 1970 UK vinyl, with matrices very close to those mentioned on Discogs for the “blue lettering sleeve” version, BUT packaged in a cover from a German release. Where the English cover has a single, stapled, deep pocket, on both sides, this has shallow, glued, bottom pockets and matching top flaps. The blue lettering on the front has the Polydor European catalogue number. German printer’s details on the back.
Sleeve condition is graded as VG. It is a little grubby, particularly on the back. There is a 2cm split at the bottom of the spine and a very light scuff top right on the front. Otherwise in strong condition.
INSERTS
All 12 items are here, in super condition, housed in the original rice paper envelope, which is a little torn from opening, but great to still have it.
