The Who - 'Live At Leeds' 12" inch vinyl stereo LP (33 rpm) – Track - 1970 (cr)
Description
- 12 inch, stereo LP. 33 1/3 rpm
- Issued in 1970 on Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp's Track Records label, distributed by Polydor
- This appears to be a first pressing, the 'stamp' on the cover is black and the inserts include a copy of The Who's Woodstock contract
- Recorded at The Refectory at Leeds University on February 14th, 1970.
- Produced by Kit Lambert and The Who, sound engineer Bob Pridden
- Track listing:
- Side 1:- Track 1 - Young Man; Track 2 - Subsitute; Track 3 - Summertime Blues; Track 4 - Shakin' All Over
- Side 2:- Track 1 - My Generation; Track 2 - Magic Bus
- Gatefold sleeve intended to mimic a bootleg recording with pockets on each side, one containing the record and the other all of the inserts.
- The cover just has the title and the catalogue number inside a lozenge resembling a 'stamp' in one corner of the front cover. The inner sleeve just has design, manufacture and design credits and the Track logo and catalogue number. Designed by Graphreaks
- Inserts are:-
- Photo of the band
'Maximum R & B' Poster for Marquee gigs
Letter from John Burgess at EMI records
Gig cancellation letter from Barry Perkins at Kings Agency
Lyrics to 'My Generation'
List of 'High Numbers' gigs and earnings
Earnings list for Malcolm Rose (New Action Ltd.)
Photo from behind the drums at Woodstock with writing on reverse
Contract for the bands Woodstock performance
Delivery note for smoke generators
Marquee club box office sheet
County Court Notice for the outstanding the return of musical instruments - The inserts originally came in a rice paper bag, which is missing
- The label is white with blue print, allegedly handwritten by Pete Townshend, with the instruction 'Crackling noises O.K - Do Not Correct!'
- There are also 4 glossy 8 x 11 1/2 inch b&w photos of a guitar player. We have no idea who he is (see photo)
- Plain white paper inner sleeve with polyvinyl lining
- Made in England
- Catalogue number 2406 001
- Matrix marks:- Side 1: 2406001 A//1
- Side 2: 2406001 B//1
Condition
- The records itself appears to be in very good condition with no obvious marks or scratches and there are no signs of warping.
- Plays well with just some slight surface noise (although the label does have the instruction re: noises (see above))
- The outer sleeve has some slight creases and ring and edge wear. There are some slight marks (including and sticky label mark) and it shows signs of age, but is complete
- The inner sleeve is grubby and creased but complete and undamaged apart from the inner lining having come away (although it is still present (see photos)
- All the inserts are present and undamaged although some do have creases
- Based on the guidelines of the Record Collectors Guild, I would say this record is 'Very good' (www.recordcollectorsguild.org)
