The Who : Live At Leeds A1/B1 Early UK Press 1970 (Blue Stamp + All Inserts
This very early pressing of this 'live' album plays with stunning quality for the vast majority. There is one brief section of interference on S2 but overall the power and depth of the audio is phenomenal and there is very little static.
This issue with the 'blue stamp' on the front cover is supposedly the second pressing and it contains all the inserts including the 'Live at Leeds' poster and the small photo of the band.
The 'bootleg' style cover is in excellent condition with only a little shelf wear and all the staples remain firmly in place.
Please wait for the invoice before making payment thank you.

Visual grading
The vinyl has a superb glossy sheen and looks hardly played it is so clean. There are only a couple of very faint hairlines and three tiny needle drop marks on each side. There are very difficult to find! There are no scratches and barely any spindle wear plus the run out grooves and labels are also extremely clean.
Play grading
'Young Man Blues' has barely any static on the intro and on Daltrey's first vocal there is no 'background' which is impressive when you consider that's all there is, just the vocal. From then on it plays with great clarity, a couple of light static sounds during the vocals but nothing intrusive. The instrumental section is superb! It is so strong and plays with remarkable depth and power, such deep bass also. The remainder plays to the same standard and this is easily a Near Mint start to this classic album.
'Substitute' again has hardly any static on the 'spoken' intro but there is one static click sound just as the guitar comes in. Thereafter it plays loud and true with no intrusion on the audio aside from a couple of clicks near the end that are largely 'buried' in the music anyway. I would grade this as Ex+
'Summertime Blues' has some crackly/clicky sounds on the spoken section for about 4/5 seconds but this is obviously before the music begins. When it does the audio is stunning! There is no obvious interference just a couple of light static sounds and overall the actual track deserves a Near Mint grade.
'Shakin' All Over' is similar with just one very brief raspy static sound near the start. The vast majority of this famous Johnny Kidd cover plays with very impressive power and no distortion. The vast majority is Near Mint but as there is a little static (very minimal) Ex+ is fair.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The classic 'My Generation' has only a minimal amount of light static on the intro and in no way does it get in the way of the music. From that point on the playback is so strong and the majority plays with great quality. The only negative is some crackle and 4 or 5 rather loud clicks at the beginning of the first long quieter section. The remainder of this 'interlude' plays with extremely well as do the other quieter sections akthough there is just a little static in the final one. The heavier sections are stunning and the depth and power cannot be faulted. There is no distortion and you can turn it up to full volume. Ex+ overall but that one brief section has to grade as G+ even it does say 'Crackling Noises OK Do Not Correct' on the labels!
'Magic Bus' is stunning from the word go - one of the best intros I have ever heard on this album. It continues to impress with fantastic power and again the quieter sections are very 'clean' also. There is only minimal static. That 'high octane' section as you approach the end is just mind-blowing and perfectly encapsulates what 'The Who' were all about 'live'. This album is often heralded as one of the finest 'live' albums ever and you can see why when you listen to this track. This really is a sublime version of this classic and again there is no distortion whatsoever, the playback is sensational! The entire end section could not play any better - the sonic quality is superb and there is nothing that intrudes on the quality of the listen. It is easily Near Mint - wow what a final track!
In summary this very collectable early pressing plays to a very impressive standard overall with only 4,5 seconds of interference on S1 which isn't even during the music and about 10 seconds on S2. The vast majority is stunning and what is impressive is that there is no distortion anywhere. The cover is very clean and as stated all the inserts are included.
The Cover
The bootleg style 'MacNeill' cover is in excellent condition with only a little wear. This is mainly on the top two edges where the 'paper' has frayed a little. Nothing major though. Aside from that it is in great shape with no marking anywhere and the staples are all firmly in place still. There is a very small tear by the right edge and a corresponding one on the back cover but they really are not that obvious. Sort of adds to the 'bootleg' style in a way! The corners have hardly any wear and the inside of the 'gatefold' is super clean. An excellent example overall.
Inner Sleeve
The poly-lined 'Plastic Bags' inner has no splits or tears, just a little creasing and only a minor amount of age related fading on the top edges.
The Labels
They are almost perfect with hardly any spindle wear and no marking or writing.
The Inserts
They are all in superb condition with only minimal creasing on the top edge of two or three. The majority are perfect.
