This is a UK 1st pressing of this album with the rare Black lettering printed in the sleeve with all 12 inserts. It must be one of the last issues of the 1st black lettering pressings as the front is very pale black (looks almost blue but the blue printed ones were of a different tone) whilst the inside print is very dark black. 

The UK gatefold McNeil press sleeve is thicker than all later pressings (see in the photo how stands!) and is in excellent condition with the staples firmly adhered. The buff card used for the ‘butterfly’ style opening cover with inner pockets was thicker on the first issues and had a slightly coarse finish - later ones were noticeably thinner and smoother. The inner pockets on these first ones were deeper. The spine is excellent with a minor split in the top edge.

All UK FIRST PRESSINGS have the catalogue number 2406 001 followed by A//1 & B//1 MATRICES on the respective sides followed by low number stamper codes (THIS ONE HAS 1 1 IN BOTH SIDES). The vinyl weight of UK TRACK first pressings were around 140 grammes, re-issues and later pressings were generally lighter. The vinyl is in very good to excellent condition.

The white TRACK labels with blue facsimile handwriting, said to be Pete Townshend’s, with the notorious additional note ‘CRACKLING NOISES O.K. DO NOT CORRECT!’ are in very good to excellent condition with pale blue printing.

All UK pressings contained 12 inserts which were as follows: -  Group photograph / Isle of Wight photo print / Premier Talent Woodstock Booking / Marquee Club Box Office summary / King’s Agency Locarno ballroom Swindon cancellation letter / EMI Records Ltd indecision letter / My Generation typed lyrics / New Action bookings form / The High Numbers payments slip / Notice Before Proceedings / Brocks Delivery Note and Poster (this is the Leeds later version).  The inserts range from excellent to near mint condition.

Cover - Looks new - no marks, wear or damage

Disc - Looks unplayed - no marks visible

Near Mint         

Cover - Looks virtually new with signs of handling- Minor wear creases but no marks or damage. Light sleeves may show slight discoloration due to age.

Disc - May have minor scuffs &/or hairline scratches caused by moving record in & out of paper sleeve

Excellent            

Cover - Slight signs of wear on edges/spine, corners or ring wear. No damage caused by sticker removal/residue.

Disc- The record has been played and may have some superficial marks &/or hairline scratches and paper scuffs.

Very good         

Cover - Moderate edge/spine or ring wear. Corners may be a little blunt. Opening edge may show feathering caused by removal of record. Visible creases or laminate lift. Localised sticker removal damage.

Disc - The record has been played frequently and has noticable surface marks, occasional light scratches and paper scuffs.

Good              

Cover - Heavy ring or edge/spine wear. Corners noticeable bashed. Heavy creases. Considerable laminate/surface damage.

Disc - The record looks very well played and the sound quality has probably deteriorated noticeably. A lot of surface marks/scratches
