The Who Sell Out is the third album by English rock band The Who, released in 1967 by Track Records in the UK and Decca Records in the US. It is a concept album, formatted as a collection of unrelated songs interspersed with faux commercials and public service announcements. The album purports to be a broadcast by pirate radio station Radio London. Part of the intended irony of the title was that The Who were making commercials during that period of their career.
The album's release was reportedly followed by a bevy of lawsuits due to the mention of real-world commercial interests in the faux commercials and on the album covers, and by the makers of the real jingles (Radio London jingles), who claimed The Who used them without permission. (The jingles were produced by PAMS Productions of Dallas, Texas, which created thousands of station ID jingles in the 1960s and 1970s.) In 2003, the album was ranked number 113 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
The cover is divided into panels featuring a photograph by David Montgomery of each of the band members, two on the front and two on the back. On the front is Pete Townshend applying Odorono brand deodorant from an oversized stick, and Roger Daltrey sitting in a bathtub full of Heinz baked beans (holding an oversized tin can of the same). Daltrey is said to have caught pneumonia after sitting for a prolonged period in the bathtub, as the beans had been frozen. On the back is Keith Moon applying Medac from an oversized tube, and John Entwistle in a leopard-skin Tarzan suit, squeezing a blonde woman in a leopard-skin bikini with one arm and a teddy bear with the other (an ad for the Charles Atlas course mentioned in one of the album's faux commercials).

Strict Goldmine Grading Of Vinyl, records are held
up near a 100 watt bulb to see any visual wear.
We're detail obsessed about our vinyl!
All albums are shipped in a new sturdy cardboard LP mailer.
Vinyl grading is usually based on the Goldmine standard
and is as follows:
“SS” Still Sealed – For the collector that demands
nothing but perfection.
“M” Mint - a near perfect, or unplayed record.Or just opened
album, that looks like it was never played, and doesn't show
any wear.
“NM” Near Mint - in factory fresh condition, like new.
Album was opened. Has minor wear.
EX+ - close to like new with only superficial signs of use that
don't affect play. Will satisfy all but the most vain and
demanding collector.
EX - a used, reasonable copy.Shows slight signs of wear.
Vinyl plays very well, hard to see any wear, except there may
be some in the grooves. Like it was played a few times.
VG+ - There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility
a few scuffs and/or light surface noise between tracks or
during quiet passages, but still quite nice.
VG - significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable
surface noise,still plays great.
Good - In the record world, "Good" is not good!
From here on down, we're talking about a used album, that
might not sound or look very good. But it has to be graded this,
it might be a very rare record,so the fact that it's "good" is really
not that important, the idea is,it might be so rare, the condition might
be okay to live with.
Shipping:
Domestic/USA Customers - The normal/default shipping method is 'Media Mail' via the US Postal Service, since that's the method I've found most people choose. It is a little slower than Priority Mail, but cheaper and very reliable. The Post Office says delivery time is 3-9 days, though it's usually to you in less than a week. However, if you need the item(s) in a hurry, and are worried about handling time,or records being damaged, please email me after the purchase and I'll get you a quote based on your zip-code (the average Priority Mail is around $7.50 for 1 LP).
Shipping and Handling:
All LP’s are securely packaged in a protective shipping mailer/box. The mailers are made of stiff cardboard and I've found them to be very reliable. In order to take advantage of the shipping discounts on multiple purchases, please pay for all items in one transaction. When calculating the shipping, please note a Double LP Set is considered two LP's(everything is by weight) ,Boxed Collections are based on the # of discs in the collection.
Shipping and handling rates (and associated shipping discounts for multiple purchases) are as follows, based on destination:
USA - 4.00 1st LP + $1.00 each additional LP (Media Mail)
Canada - $6.50 1st LP + $3.00 each additional LP (Airmail/First Class International)
Mexico - $8.50 1st LP + $4.00 each additional LP (Airmail/First Class International)
