This is a VERY RARE & TRUE DAY ONE - FIRST STATE PRESSING (done in April 1966 for release in May).
Produced using raw audio by Shel Talmy (alongside the British engineer Glyn Johns)
ALBUM - NM almost no visible wear, almost no spindle marks
COVER - EX NO SPLITS, color still bright and clean and shiny. minimal ring wear & shelf wear on edges and corners
SLEEVE - EX-NM ORIGINAL PRINTED DECCA HYPE SLEEVE - yellowing a bit, but minimal creasing & quite astonishing - absolutely NO SPLITS. Tiny 1" tear in paper near open (see pics)

This is a breathtaking, archive-quality copy of The Who’s historic debut album, featuring the legendary, hard-hitting original Shel Talmy mono mix. The glossy black rainbow label features the definitive, early-state "M'F'R'D BY DECCA RECORDS INC. NEW YORK, U.S.A." fine print text at the bottom, strictly predating the 1967 MCA transitions. The deadwax matrix codes feature the earliest possible single-digit stamper marks—Side A: MG10404 T2 1 and Side B: MG10405 T2 1 1—stamped by Decca’s premier Gloversville pressing plant.
The preservation of this entire package is absolutely sensational and easily grades at a conservative Near Mint (NM). The vinyl retains its brilliant, mirror-like factory luster with virtually no visible wear, ensuring a pristine listening experience free of the typical 1960s surface noise.
