Description
Here's one of those Great Psyche Garage 45 Records from Texas. The WIG were an Austin based band that were clearly influenced by two things: L.S.D. and the 13th Floor Elevators. Their tune "Crackin Up" is a blistering psyche tune with a great acid breakdown, distorted vocals and a screaming energy. Check out the credits and you'll find it's Rusty Weir who was the songwriter for this one – he was also the drummer for the group. He later wigged out and went off into country music and cut several records for major labels – none the classic that this is. This rare 1966 single is on Empire Records / Blackknight Prod / A&R Paul Harrison / Tall Pine BMI / Record 3, and is flipped with "Bluescene." This flip is credited to W. Theig – which is The Wig scrambled a bit. And, the coolest thing of all (at least to me), is that its Yellow Vinyl - WOW!! On the "Crackin Up" Side - There's the word "Vocal" written in ink - Some ring wear on the Label - And, the residue of a small round label which could be removed. On the "Bluescene" Side - There's some ring wear - and the word "Vocal 10-21" & a marked through spot on top of that, made with ink. As far as how it sounds - It's way above average - It was owned by a DJ and played very carefully - There's normal scuffs and light scratches - but, when it's played there's no skips and very minimal background noise (pops & hissing sounds) - It's probably one of the best sounding older used 45's that I've ever heard. According to Popsike one of these on the 1966 Blacknight Labels in Black Vinyl, went for 709.00. I'm selling this one in a Fixed Price Auction - for 995.00 or Make an Offer. Shipping is FREE ANYWHERE - USA or INTERNATIONAL. Thanks!!!
