encyclopedia:

The Young Norwegians' first LP was called "Things On Our Mind" (1967) and contained both English songs by Bjorn Morisse (Big Bear) and Norwegian trad songs performed by 16-year-old Bjorn F. Nilsen (Little Bear) View the group formed in 1966 by Bjorn Morisse (vocals, guitar) and Lille Nilsen (vocals, banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, harmonica, harmonica).  Steinar Ofsdal (flute, cello, bass, fiddle) was a member from 1968. Young Norwegians were among the first connected American tones with Norwegian folk songs, and they acted as the bridge between the club show Dolphins and rock scene in Norway. Morisse spent most of his childhood in the United States. He was a time a member of Olaf boys, and trained as an illustrator. Nilsen learned to play several instruments before he was 15, without a single learning hour. It was through cooperation with Morisse that Nilsen was nicknamed Little Bear. Morisse was both bigger and older, and was referred to as Big Bear, while the younger was called Little Bear. As the duo debuted Young Norwegians on TV in 1966 and signed a recording contract with Troll in the wake of this. After a few singles duo went over to the triplet, where they released the LP Things On Our Mind in 1967.  Kari Svendsen participated as a guest on a plate where the menu ranged from self-composed material (with English subtitles) by classical music ("Bourr?quot; by Bach - two years before Jethro Tull) to Norwegian folk songs. Morisse was clearly inspired by Bob Dylan, while Nilsen had more in common with Myllarguten. Music followed the year after the company Polydor. Now, Ofsdal joined, leading to greater variety in the arrangements. The material was increasingly directed towards Norwegian, exemplified by Nilsen's own composition "Dance, do not cry now," which must be regarded as a milestone in Norwegian music. Svein Erik Borja and Odd onion were manufacturers. Young Norwegians were dissolved at the beginning of 1969. Nilsen adopted the Little Bear as their firm's name, and started a career that led to victories in both their own and with groups Ballade! and Jovi.Morisse made sporadic recordings on their own, including "About jag been unemployed" for the record series Swedish Tops, but otherwise concentrated on the work as an illustrator and cartoonist. He dares to be known for serial strip Gl?ik, who for years was published in Dagbladet. Ofsdal became a studio musician, recording artist later on its own, and known for his role in Billy Goats Gruff groups and street singers.
