THE ZOMBIES - Odessey and Oracle
Original UK Mono LP
CBS (63280)
Rare UK mono original on the rough textured orange CBS label with smooth edge. Housed in the correct front laminated non flipback sleeve.
This is a very nice condition copy of the rarer mono pressing, visually excellent plus condition with a wonderful near mint to mint audio. Even under a very bright light source there is little to see, just the very odd wispy scuff.
There are just two negatives to mention about this particular copy. Firstly, side one sits flat on the turntable, but side two has a light warp. I'm assuming it's from the manufacturing process. It does not effect play whatsoever.
I have filmed the side two warp with my mobile phone and uploaded it to Youtube so you can see exactly what it looks like. As you will have also noticed, we have recorded the entire album. It was recorded on a Technics 1210 MKII deck with Stanton cartidge and stylus directly into the "line in" on our computer with no noise reduction. As you can imagine, the sound through the speakers is superb.

Also, there is a very small name written on the rear. Two very small plain white stickers were put over the name and at a later date someone tried to remove one of the stickers then gave up.
This certainly is one of the best mono copies we've ever seen with outstanding playback, but like every record it has its issues as shown above.
The sleeve is in a solid vg+ condition. The front is nice with strong vibrant colours and some creasing to the laminate, mainly bottom left. The rear has had a small name written on the top, then covered with two small stickers, one of which someone has tried to remove.
There are no splits and no tears. A solid sleeve.
Comes with a CBS inner sleeve in vg condition. It is a little grubby but is in one piece. We could have replaced it, but i'm assumng its always been with this album so thought we'd keep them together. They are not too difficult to find if you want to replace it.
The labels are in excellent condition with some very light spindle wear and a few short spider marks. No writing and no tears. These labels suggest that the album has been looked after and played carefully.

The record is in excellent + condition. In daylight it looks near mint. When viewed under a very bright light source (two 50 watt halogen lights) it shows a little dulling to the lustre but enough sheen left to be pleasing to the eye and just the very odd ultra wispy scuff. A truly nice copy in nice collectable condition.
The playback is even better than the visual grade, an easy near mint, even between the tracks and the run ins are pretty much silent. A strong, powerful and vibrant mono playback.
Please note that there is a warp on side two only and can be seen on the Youtube link at the beginning of the description.
We research all records we put up for auction so we can give the fullest information possible.
Please note that we grade all records the same whether they are 40 years old or 1 year old.

Our grading is strict so as not to disappoint, we have been selling on ebay since 1998 & know how important this is. Grading of records is done with the record angled under two 50 watt halogen spotlights. Pictures are of actual item up for auction. All records are packed securely & most importantly packed outside of the picture sleeve (in a plain inner sleeve) so as to avoid seam splits during shipping.
Please note that we do NOT use noise reduction on our sound files so you get to hear how the record plays. We use a Technics SL1210 MK2 which are well known for giving a slightly worse sound quality when hooked up to a computer as to what you'll hear through the stereo.
Near Mint
Almost mint. Very minor paper scuffs and very little else can appear on the vinyl. This will most likely have occurred during packaging, or removing the record from the inner sleeve but obviously it had been handled with extreme care. Any flaw should be very hard to see. The cover should look as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and/or age. Minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside) may be acceptable, however the artwork should be as close to perfect as can be.
Excellent
An excellent condition for vinyl will allow minor scuffs (Scuffs lay on top of the grooves) which are visible but only slightly. The wear should be minimal. The play should be close to perfect as well. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear. Some slight creases to the corners, but not wrinkled and obtrusive to the eye. The corners can show a little white, meaning slight wear. No seam splits or writing on the cover or taped repairs.
VG++
As Excellent but with a larger number of scuffs, maybe a couple of hairlines (very light scratch that can't be felt) or a couple of marks on both sides. Sound quality should still be very close to that of an Excellent record with only minor crackle in quiet segments only, NO scratches that can be felt. Cover as Excellent but there may be a small seam split on the cover, or a very minimal amount of writing like a name written in small writing or a number. A VG++ record should be an acceptable record to live with if you aren't looking to pay the price of a Near Mint copy.

Please note that the first soundfile was broken. We have recorded the whole album again. We have listened to the new soundfile on our computer and there are no skips or jumps. There can be problems listening to the file directly from the auction, this is due to the sheer size of the file.
