Description
Up for auction is a nice copy of the Thelonious Monk album "5 By Monk By 5" originally released in the U.S. on Riverside Records (RLP 1150) in 1959.
-Guaranteed original First Stereo Pressing -Deep Groove labels -Mono pressing -Correct black & silver labels -Glossy paste-down cover
Condition: The cover is still in pretty nice condition, front has a nice shine, no ring wear but a hint of rub. Back is generally clean, no ring wear, but has a moisture stain in bottom right corner--along with a factory inspection stamp. Small number written on right bottom edge. Seams are generally intact, no splits, but there is some paper loss on top edge near spine, about 2 or 3 inches (see photo). Corners look sharp with a bit of rub. Overall, a nice cover in very presentable condition. Grade it Very Good Plus (VG+).
The vinyl is in very nice shape, still retains its original high gloss shine. No apparent scratches or scuffs, just some light signs of handling, and taking the record out of the inner sleeve a few times. Light pressing spots here and there, but nothing that affects the quality of the playback. Labels are clean.
Play Tested: This record has excellent sound quality, very clear and clean sounding. Perhaps a little surface noise on the run-in grooves, but it fades away once the music starts, and you really don't notice it. Very well-preserved copy, well taken care of, not over-played or mishandled. Nice. Grade the vinyl Excellent (EX).
