Description
THELONIOUS MONK "Genius of Modern Music Vol. 2" Blue Note LP 5009, "P", "DG," Frame Cover, Mono 10" Vinyl.
This is the 1952, first-pressing, 10" Deep-Groove, Flat-Rim, Frame Cover, "P"-pressing of THELONIOUS MONK's "Genius of Modern Music Vol. 2" on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 5009. Musicians include Monk, Art Blakey, Al McKibbon, Sahib Shihab.
Vinyl has steady ticks and pops, on both sides, some areas louder, some quieter. Record plays nicely. Both sides have good gloss, 2 small feelable marks/scratches, many hairline non-feelable marks. Side 1, #3 locked groove. Both Deep Groove labels clean with minimal spindle marks. No warps, No Distortion. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections, do not detract from this powerfully recorded and pressed vinyl.Frame COVER is largely in very good shape; one inch seam split at top and bottom at jacket opening. Tear on over, top left. Two inch spine split at bottom of jacket. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21 N.Y" back jacket shows wear and minor discoloration, yellow marker highlighting. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
