Description

We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
1958 US Mono 1st Press copy of Thelonious Monk Quartet - Thelonious In Action on the blue Deep Groove Riverside label, Bill Grauer Productions ( no Inc.). This is a genuine 1958 1st press - 
The releases listed under "Monk's other Riverside LPs" on this version does not include RLP 12-305.

Degritter cleaned, the vinyl has a good gloss with numerous scuffs and trace hairlines visible but no feelable damage. Graded VG visually but plays closer to VG+ with clear vibrant sound which conveys a wonderful live atmosphere. There is some background noise in places but this does not spoil the enjoyment. No jumping or sticking - the vinyl plays as it should.
The outer sleeve is in a solid condition for the age apart from the spine which is heavily worn ( see photos). Otherwise light discolouration and a small 4cm split to the bottom seam opening end.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
A rare opportunity for a collector to own an original copy of this wonderful album.
