Description

One of the earlier releases on the small jazz imprint, Black Lion, pianist, THELONIOUS MONK, recorded an album called "Something in Blue" with Al McKibbon, bass; and Art Blakely, drums. This is #BL-152, recorded at Chappell Studios, London, on November 15, 1971, at the end of an 8-week world tour arranged by George Wein. It was his first trio recording in fifteen years, marking a comeback for the ailing pianist. Tunes are: "Blue Sphere"; "Hackensack"; "Nice Work If You Can Get It"; "Criss Cross"; "Something In Blue"; "Evidence"; "Jackie-ing" and "Nutty". Cover is in very good condition with barely visible ring wear, and wearing/rubbing at some of the corners. This is the original U. S. pressing distributed by Audio Fidelity Enterprises, Inc., and has the first multi-colored Black Lion label. The vinyl is in mint condition having never been played.
