THEM, ‘THE “ANGRY” YOUNG THEM, A 1st UK 1965 RED DECCA LABEL MONO VINYL LP–Cat No, LK. 4700.
Them were a Northern Irish band formed in Belfast in April 1964, most prominently known for the garage rock standard "Gloria" and launching singer Van Morrison's musical career. The original five member band consisted of Morrison, Alan Henderson, Ronnie Milling, Billy Harrison and Eric Wrixon. The group was marketed in the United States as part of the British Invasion. Them scored two UK hits in 1965 with "Baby, Please Don't Go" (UK #10) and "Here Comes the Night" This is the second UK album release from, Them and is a first pressing with the flip-back picture sleeve.
Both record labels have the distinctive Decca grooves and are in Very Good Plus condition, both labels show several signs of play, all silver printed text is clear.
Side 1 matrix and stampers, A R L 6819-4 A & 1 U and Side 2 A R L 6820 -3 A & 1 C
Both sides of the LP are in Very Good Plus condition, there are several surface hairline scratches on both sides, but fortunately none are feel-able and do not sound when played, and plays with light background static without skips and clicks, i would give the play quality a 6/10 score.
The front of the Picture sleeve is Very Good Plus with a few laminate pinches and LP indentation, the back panel of the sleeve is in good minus condition with stains and sellotape residue, both edges and the spine edge are free from splits.
This is a respectable example of this original first issue 1965 mono LP .
