Description
THEMBA & T FIRE Temba Matebese NO STOP DIS MUSIK Nigeria Afro Psych Funk LP
Impossible to find heavy psych funk holy grail! Killer.
Themba & T Fire (Temba Matebese) No Stop Dis Musik
Coconut COLP 202 Nigeria 1976OK this one doesn't come cheap but for a reason… one of the remaining holy grails of seventies Nigerian music, this steaming hot psychedelic funk album by South African born guitarist Themba Matebese and his Nigerian band. This album has some strong funky dance cuts with special focus on Themba's guitar playing. Four long jams, three of them over 10 minutes.
Themba is a bit of an enigmatic figure but he pops up on a couple of classic releases including Bassa Bassa - Homowo which he produced. The track 'You've got to try' was featured on Soundway's 'The World Ends' compilation (vol 2). But there is more greatness on here, three uptempo funky tracks and one more laid-back one!
This LP has not shown up on the web before, never on Ebay, no mp3 rips out there… so this may be your only chance of owning a copy, and a pristine one at that.
Condition: this album comes from the collection of a 70s promoter in Europe, it was played about five times altogether so the condition of the vinyl and sleeve are a strong VG+. The slower track 4 has a bit of noise - a few noticeable ticks/clicks but the others play with no noise. The center hole was enlarged by the previous owner cos the pressing on this album is slightly off center so enlarging the hole makes it possible to position (align) the LP on the turntable and make it play without any distortion.
