But I'll be damned if Thin Lizzy didn't know what they were doing from the get go. Much in the way that Led Zeppelins debut had a completely different sound and feel from even their second classic disc, Thin Lizzy's self-titled debut album is the sound of a bad who knew what they wanted.
From the start Lynott's story telling was impeccable. And that twin guitar attack was far from perfected but the power was already there and you could hear where things were going to go, and fast. 'Look What the Wind Blew in' was as good as anything on Jailbreak, as was 'Remembering Part1.'
While Thin Lizzy wasn't the classic that Black Rose would be it was still a great album. And honestly one of my absolute favorites from the band.
As far as I'm concerned, Thin Lizzy is as good an album as Zeppelin's debut, Jeff Beck's Truth, or even Aerosmith's criminally underrated debut album. No slouch for sure.
