This is still one of my favorites. Don’t take my word for it, since power trio rock has never been my cup of tea, but this scratches every itch I have for that kind of music. I’m even including Cream and Jimi Hendrix. It’s one of the hottest takes a man can have, but I just have a low tolerance for blues rock, which psych is so inextricably tied to… maybe I’m just too worn out on the aforementioned hits to ever hear it objectively again. The musicianship here is so responsive and progressive that I’m fully engaged over straightforward compositions. I love the whole thing front-to-back, but especially the bookends are something like peaks in psychedelic music to my ears.
