Description
Tico with Vocal by the Triumphs
1962 Amy Records 860 7" 45 rpm Single Vinyl Record
Between 1957 and 1964, Simon wrote, recorded, and released more than 30 songs, occasionally reuniting with Garfunkel as Tom & Jerry for some singles, including "Our Song" and "That's My Story". Most of the songs Simon recorded during that time were performed alone or with musicians other than Garfunkel. They were released on several minor record labels, such as Amy, Big, Hunt, King, Tribute, and Madison. He used several pseudonyms for these recordings, including Jerry Landis, Paul Kane and True Taylor. Simon enjoyed some moderate success in recording a few singles as part of a group called Tico and the Triumphs, including a song called "Motorcycle" that reached No. 97 on the Billboard charts in 1962. Tico and the Triumphs released four 45s. Marty Cooper, known as Tico, sang lead on several of these releases. A childhood friend, Bobby Susser, children's songwriter, record producer, and performer, co-produced the Tico 45s with Simon. That year, Simon reached No. 99 on the pop charts as Jerry Landis with the novelty song "The Lone Teen Ranger." Both chart singles were released on Amy Records.

Record Grading
Mint (M): Absolutely perfect in every way, never played, possibly even still sealed.
Near Mint (NM): A nearly perfect record. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. The jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or no other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes or cuts. Also, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sheets, etc.
Excellent (EX): Generally better than VG+ but not as good as a near mint record as described above. The label has no owner names, stickers, ring wear or spindle marks. The vinyl has barely visible scuff marks and no scratches. One side may even be closer to near mint while the other side closer to VG+. The jacket has no cut-out marks (punch holes, saw cuts, etc.) and no writing (owner's name, stickers, etc.), also, there is little or no wear and was most likely protected by an outer sleeve. Also, the jacket may have some or most of the original shrink wrap.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surface may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. May have slight warp that does not affect play or sound. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but barely noticeable. The center spindle hole is not misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeve or LP inner sleeve has some slight ring wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seem split. LP jacket may have some slight signs of wear and may have cut-out/punch holes or saw cuts, indicated that it was taken out of print and/or sold at a discount..
Very Good (VG): Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG record. Surface noise will be evident during playback, especially during soft passages and during a song's intro and fade but will not overpower the music otherwise. Has noticeable groove wear, may have light scratches (that could be deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may have writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same may be true of picture sleeves or LP jacket covers.
Good (G): Good does not mean Bad! The record can be put onto a turntable and be played through without skipping, but it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
ATTENTION:
All records will be mailed out in protective plastic sleeves inside a sturdy cardboard LP mailer. All records will include an inner sleeve whether original or not.
