Often cited as the ultimate Tim Buckley statement, Goodbye and Hello is indeed a fabulous album, but it's merely one side of Tim Buckley's enormous talent. Recorded in the middle of 1967 (in the afterglow of Sgt. Pepper), this album is clearly inspired by Pepper's exploratory spirit. More often than not, this helps to bring Buckley's awesome musical vision home, but occasionally falters. Not that the album is overrated (it's not), it's just that it is only one side of Buckley. The finest songs on the album were written by him alone, particularly "Once I Was" and "Pleasant Street." Buoyed by Jerry Yester's excellent production, these tracks are easily among the finest example of Buckley's psychedelic/folk vision. A few tracks, namely the title cut and "No Man Can Find the War," were co-written by poet Larry Beckett. While Beckett's lyrics are undoubtedly literate and evocative, they occasionally tend to be too heavy-handed for Buckley. However, this is a minor criticism of an excellent and revolutionary album that was a quantum leap for both Tim Buckley and the audience.
(EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY MATTHEW GREENWALD, ALL MUSIC GUIDE /ALLMUSIC.COM/)
Here it is, in all its Morning Glory: the hard-to-find Tim Buckley's second album, the rare ORIGINAL pressing of his 'Goodbye and Hello' album. This is the album that gave Tim Buckley his big break and which made his name famous world-over, if only for a brief moment in time. before he lapsed into self-imposed oblivion. The material is vintage Tim Buckley, ranging from troubadour musings to some of the most sophisticated, intricate, melodic songs ever crafted by Man. If you have not experienced 60’s firsthand, this is the album which will probably evoke them much better than any other album in existence. Some of the songs are my personal perennial favorites: The hypnotic, Bergman-like "Pleasant Street", the beautiful "Phantasmagoria in two’, the poignant "No man can find a war" or the thoughtful, profound "Once I was" and "Morning Glory" (this, later one, covered by practically every self-respecting up-and-coming folk artist of the late ‘60’s). And then, there`s this wonderful multi-octave range voice, which is a force of nature! The album is truly a masterpiece, even if a few of the songs on it did not age all that well. The sound is very warm and friendly original stereo mix. A genuine piece of rock, folk and psych history. Our personal estimate is that later pressings (on red, butterfly and red/black labels outnumber originals at a ratio of at least 20:1. Miss it now, and weep later. Track listing: No man can find the war - Carnival song - Pleasant Street - Hallucinations - I never asked to be your mountain - Once I was - Phantasmagoria in two - Knight-errant - Goodbye and Hello - Morning Glory . Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ?click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).
(b) The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve (we can see it on the opening side)
(c) The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. (d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· THE COVER
COVER IS STRONG NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ?SHRINK WRAP
