Description
Original Blue Note LP, True Blue by Tina Brooks with Freddie Hubbard and Duke Jordan!!
Thank you for viewing my auction! Up for auction is an old jazz record album by Tina Brooks. The album is titled True Blue, and it is on the Blue Note record label. It is Blue Note 4041, or BLP 4041. This is my first time selling a record on eBay or otherwise, so please bear with me as I describe this item. Please ask me any specific questions you may have before placing your bid. At this point Ive read through many eBay record auctions, and understand the importance of providing details on this items content, condition, etc. Please see the pictures Ive posted below!
The record is Mono, not Stereo and has the deep grooves on both sides (located inside the circular label). The address on both sides of the label is 47 West 63rd, NYC. The mailing address on the back of the cover (where to write if you needed a catalog) is 43 West 61st St., New York 23.
The musicians are Freddie Hubbard, Tina Brooks, Duke Jordan, Sam Jones and Art Taylor. The songs are Good Old Soul, Up Tights Creek, Theme For Doris, True Blue, Miss hazel, and Nothing Ever Changes My Love For You. They are in that order, with 3 songs per side. The recording was done by Rudy Van Gelder (RVG and the ear are in the records trail off on both sides). The numbers and letters in the trail off on Side 1 are: BN-LP.4041-A. Side 2: BN-LP-4041-B.
I played the record and it sounded wonderful. I see some light scratches and scuffs, but they did not affect my enjoyment of the music. The record played great with no skips, repeats, etc. and might play even better if the record were cleaned on record cleaning machine (which I dont have). The label has a little light soiling, the center hole area on side 2 looks great while the hole area on side 1 is just slightly worn looking in the paper label only (not the vinyl). Its only at an angle in the light that one can see marks near the center hole.
The front cover has a nice gloss to it. Theres very little pronounced ring wear, more like some light grey spots of discoloration from being on the record shelf. Theres a yellowish spot upper left. The corners are a bit bumped, lower right and upper left slightly more so. Seam is starting to split center top - maybe 1.5 inches, and lower right - maybe .75 of an inch. The spine is not split - the words are crisp and clear - but were starting to see some cardboard towards the top and bottom. The back cover shows some grey areas and spots representing some ring wear and shelf wear. We also see some soiling or foxing. There is no ripping on the slick or rubbing out of the words.
I would rate the overall package at VG+, with a possibility of an E play grade after cleaning and an E visual cover grade after cleaning and little fixes (which you should not try unless experienced).
I plan to ship this item with the record in a poly lined sleeve, and separated from the cover which will be in a protective clear poly sleeve. I will use cardboard and new bubble wrap inside the box - the box being a new 24 x 5 x 18 Uline manufactured box. I know it seems big, but I think itll work well. Most eBayers seem to ship records for about $5.00, so lets call it $5.00 s/h in the continental USA. Insurance and foreign shipping would be extra - so Id ask that the winning bidder requiring such email me after the auctions close with insurance amount / address so I can then pack the item and get the quote (thus your total) from the post office. I prefer to ship US Postal Service, as they seem careful in their handling of boxes marked Fragile.
$5.00 shipping & handling to be paid by winning bidder in the continental U.S.A.. This includes a new box, new bubble wrap, and strong tape! Shipping will be via the U.S. Postal Service. I accept: personal checks, bank checks, money orders (I am not set up to use pay pal or any of the internet payment methods). Your payment is expected within 7 to 10 days of the auction ending. Im very firm with all of this. Thank you for viewing this and my other eBay auctions!
