There have been so few vinyl LPs produced over the last 5 years that you should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and your ears. The ultimate record -- the way music was meant to be heard
TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS LIVE ANTHOLOGY - 7 180 GRAM LP SET - The Live Anthology is a multiple-disc set of recordings drawn from thirty years of live performances. The collection brings together material from 1978-2007 culled from hundreds of hours of live concert recordings covering every era of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' tours and represents the best tracks as chosen by producers Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and Ryan Ulyate.
The producers made no fixes or overdubs, letting the newly mixed original recordings showcase the invention, spontaneity, craft, and the musicianship that has made Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers among the most celebrated live performers of their time. Along with powerful interpretations of their own classic hits and originals, The Live Anthology features the band tackling some of their best-loved cover material, from classics to obscure beauties to unexpected adaptations. The theme from Goldfinger, the Zombies' "I Want You Back Again," the Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil," early Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well," Booker T. and the MGs' "Green Onions," James Brown's "Good, Good Lovin'" and many more. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers travel wide, paying their musical debts through song and showing just how confidently the band moves across genres and over time.
DAMN THE TORPEDOES - AUDIOPHILE DOUBLE 180 GRAM - 2 LP SET - WITH BONUS TRACKS
Deluxe Edition 180-gram double LP featuring nine bonus tracks. Remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog tapes and pressed at Pallas in Germany.
It was Tom Petty and the Heartbreaks' third release, Damn The Torpedoes, that catapulted Petty and company into the first rank of American rock acts. It's not hard to understand why. With a slate of driving songs destined to become FM staples ("Refugee," "Here Comes My Girl," "Even The Losers," "Don't Do Me Like That"), it's an album that plays much like half a greatest-hits collection. Fusing a rootsy sensibility heavy with Dylan and Byrds affectations with his own pop instincts (honed by early stints with Mudcrutch and Dwight Twilley) and coupling them with one of rock's most consistently underrated powerhouses, the Heartbreakers, Petty's throwback traditionalism oddly found him riding the crest of the new wave in the late '70s.
This deluxe set includes nine bonus tracks, including seven unreleased gems and three exclusive live tracks.
"The louder you crank this the better it gets! There's not a digital recording made that can come close to the magnificently open, airy and extended top end of this recording...Damn The Torpedoes captures the essence of American rock and TP and the Heartbreakers at a young peak. The album has aged extremely well and has never sounded as good as this reissue." Music = 9/11; Sound = 10/11 - Michael Fremer,
HIGHWAY COMPANION - TWO LP SET - 180 GRAM - ORIGINAL RELEASE - Highway Companion, Tom Petty's third solo album and first in a dozen years, is a timeless album about the passing of time. A constant companion on the road of rock n' roll, Petty, says Rolling Stone, is "rock aristocracy".

Mudcrutch - TWO 180 GRAM LP SET WITH CD ORIGINAL RELEASE - was formed in 1970 after Tom Petty's first band, The Sundowners changed its name to The Epics; which then became Mudcrutch. Mudcrutch's lineup consisted of Petty (bass and vocals), Tom Leadon (guitar and vocals), Randall Marsh (drums) and Mike Campbell (guitar). Leadon left the band in 1972 and was replaced by guitarist/vocalist Danny Roberts. Keyboardist Benmont Tench also joined the band. Much like The Beatles at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, Mudcrutch served as the house band at Dub's Diner in its hometown of Gainesville, Florida.
In 1974, Mudcrutch signed with Shelter Records and re-located to Los Angeles, California. The band released one single, "Depot Street," in 1975, which failed to chart. The band broke up later that year. Petty, Campbell, and Tench went on to form the Heartbreakers in 1976 with fellow Gainesville natives Stan Lynch and Ron Blair.
2008 The Return! In August 2007, the original members of Mudcrutch reunited and recorded an album for release in 2008. The Self-Titled Mudcrutch contains 14 old and new tracks. "We would play and then we would just talk about the old days," says Tom Leadon, who left the band in 1972.
Tom Petty's side project Mudcrutch is now available in a special audiophile CD/180g LP package. Mudcrutch engineer Ryan Ulyate says he and the musicians felt they had to compromise on the mass-market CD (released on April 29, 2008). That's because, in general, most popular music CDs are mixed to sound louder for use in cars and for conversion into MP3s. "That makes it really unsatisfying to listen to," Ulyate says. "We have this loudness war that has destroyed the way CDs sound, and we're trying to find a way to get off this spiral."
The original studio recording "has life and dynamics," Ulyate says, "but we are the only people getting to hear that now." He says the audiophile CD is "hands-down better" than the current CD for listening at home!
The included bonus Audiophile CD is made from the same uncompressed stereo masters as the vinyl pressing. It reproduces the music's full dynamic range, so the quiet parts are quieter and the loud parts are louder - just as they were performed. To achieve full dynamic range it's necessary to master with less overall level, so the Audiophile CD may not sound as "loud" as the standard CD or download. To compensate for this, put it on a high quality system and turn it up!
"The superb-sounding LP set comes with a "full-dynamic range" disc. Each boasts terrific depth, outstanding presence, and vivid immediacy, though the vinyl is slightly airier, fuller, and cozier. Demonstration quality all 'round." - Bob Gendron, The Absolute Sound, November 2008, Issue 186

The Man Who Loves Women 11. Have Love Will Travel 12. Can't Stop the Sun - Tom Petty, Campbell,SOUTHERN ACCENTS - ORIGINAL RELEASE - This didn't produce as many hits as many of his other albums, but I thought it was nearly as good, although it's more experimental in places. The most famous song is "Don't Come Around Here No More" with its sitars creating a slightly psychedellic angry rocker with a slow beat, that changes to a fast, harder one at the end.
Also, who could forget that weird Alice In Wonderland takeoff video? The more typical, Lynyrd Skynyrd styled, fun southern rocker "Rebels" was a hit that should've been bigger. "Make It Better (Forget About Me)" was an almost New Wave kind of fast, jumpy catchy song that also was a minor hit. The other songs are pretty good too, even if they're not what you'd expect from Tom.
The catchy, mid-tempo pop/rocker "Dogs On The Run" is another song that could've been on one of his earlier albums. Also there's a couple really good ballads here. The soft, emotional title track talks about southern life, and mention's Tom's mother, who died shortly before this album was made "Full Moon Fever" and everything afterwards has more of a middle-aged, less rocking, modern day Bob Dylan sound.
This is right in the middle of those periods. Southern Accents is strangely one of Petty`s best records, but with the least amount of hits coming out. "Southern Accents" is probably one of the most beautiful songs Tom Petty ever has made. It is a lonely and moody piano, expressing the purest thing in the musical world, just a man and his closest friend, his instrument. All the songs on the album has their own style, none are alike, and this makes "Southern Accents" Tom Petty`s most varied album ever. And one of his strongest.
Track Listings 1. Rebels 2. It Ain't Nothin' To Me 3. Don't Come Around Here No More 4. Southern Accents 5. Make It Better (Forget About Me) 6. Spike 7. Dogs On The Run 8. Mary's New Car 9.The Best Of Everything
HARD PROMISES - ORIGINAL LABEL - Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers (small cutout in cover) rated one of the Top 50 Artists in Rock n Roll History established themselves with “Hard Promises.” Tom Petty's love affair with the more pop-oriented output of the Byrds and Dylan at their mid-'60s prime continued to find an increasingly wide audience in the '80s-- Hard Promises (and its FM evergreens, "The Waiting" and "A Woman in Love") confirmed that Petty was one hard-working prodigy. Picking up effortlessly where Damn the Torpedoes left off, Petty and the equally conscientious Heartbreakers took nothing about their newfound fame for granted, delivering their fourth strong effort in a row, this one increasingly seasoned with touches of their Southern roots. The title hints at the tough underbelly beneath the jangly veneer of Petty's ever-accessible songwriting, exemplified here by "Nightwatchman," "Something Big," and "The Criminal Kind."
Track Listings 1. The Waiting 2. A Woman In Love (It's Not Me) 3. Nightwatchman 4. Something Big 5. Kings Road 6. Letting You Go 7. A Thing About You 8. Insider 9. The Criminal Kind 10. You Can Still Change Your MindLONG AFTER DARK - ORIGINAL LABEL
Some people say that DAMN THE TORPEDOES is Tom Petty's masterpiece, but LONG AFTER DARK is just as good. Several songs have inspired me ("Deliver Me", "We Stand A Chance", "Straight Into Darkness"), others are about deceit and disillusionment ("A One Story Town", "You Got Lucky", "Change Of Heart", "Finding Out"), still others have a cautionary message ("Between Two Worlds", "A Wasted Life"), and there's also a pledge of personal loyalty ("The Same Old You"). Some people gave LONG AFTER DARK a bum rap, but it's really yet another masterpiece from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
1. One Story Town 2. You Got Lucky 3. Deliver Me 4. Change of Heart 5. Finding Out 6. We Stand a Chance 7. Straight into Darkness 8. Same Old You 9. Between Two Worlds10. Wasted Life
