Isn’t this fun??? This is third album by Tom Petty that I have to auction that is Factory Sealed!!! AND it is also the Last of the albums by Tom Petty, although there are 2 auctions coming up for a group that TP was a member of. Can you guess the name of that group??? “Since Full Moon Fever was an unqualified commercial and critical success, perhaps it made sense that Tom Petty chose to follow its shiny formula when he reunited with the Heartbreakers for its follow-up, Into the Great Wide Open. Nevertheless, the familiarity of Into the Great Wide Open is something to be expected. The Heartbreakers' sound has remained similar throughout their career, but they had never quite repeated themselves. Technically, it isn't a repeat, since they weren't credited on Full Moon, but Wide Open sounds exactly like Full Moon, thanks to Jeff Lynne's overly stylized production. Again, it sounds like a cross between latter-day ELO and roots rock (much like the Traveling Wilburys, in that sense), but the production has become careful and precise, bordering on the sterile at times. And, fortunately, the quality of the songwriting does match Full Moon or Let Me Up (I've Had Enough). That's not to say that it rivals the uninspired Long After Dark, since Petty was a better craftsman in 1991 than he was in 1983. Yes, this is a FACTORY-SEALED, Brand New album that has never been opened. It has incredible songs on it, it has an incredible mind behind those songs and it can be YOURS! It is al-to-rare to. I could not find ONE auction listing for this album. Not ONE! What does that mean? It means that Today is YOUR Lucky day and if you pass THIS one up, you may never find another one like it! GRADING SCALE

I use a Universal Grading System to describe the quality of the LP albums and 45 singles that I sell. I grade records under strong, diffused room light or discreet sunlight. I do not use stock photos for my ads; all of my scans are of the Item You See! You get no surprises from me!

 All of my LP’s are stored upright in a SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT! 

• SS Mint (M): Album is New, Still Sealed and has never been played.
• Mint (M): The vinyl has no noticeable scratches, fingerprints or defects. May have been played more than once but there are no audible snaps or pops. The cover has no noticeable wear or defects. There may be very slight curling of the right side corners of the cover due to shrink wrap pressure. May still have it’s original shrink wrap.
• Near Mint (NM): Almost Mint vinyl with perhaps a few visual imperfections that do not affect the sound of the record. Cover is nice looking with no ring wear and may still have its original shrink wrap.
• VG++: Only slight signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks which will not distract significantly from the sound, but perhaps a snap or a pop. Cover also has only slight wear, perhaps some ringwear and is still in nice collectible condition.
• VG+: Played often with moderate surface wear and some moderate noise - still plays well. Cover may have medium overall wear or heavy ring wear. Sleeve might have noticeable wear.
• VG: Overall wear, No serious defects, more noisy sound during quiet passages. Cover is well worn, usually with considerable ring wear. Sleeve may have more than noticeable wear.
• G+: Below average with scuffs and scratches on fewer than half the tracks, Heavy wear on record and cover. Possibly some skips or repeat grooves.
• G: Moderate; even wear throughout, but still playable. Surface noise and scratches, repeat groves, skips.
• G-: Lowest Grade. Audible scratches, etc. on more than half the tracks. Listening uncomfortable.

In my opinion, the grade of “Mint” and the word “Mint” does not equal Perfection. The grade of Perfection does not exist, as far as I know. Different phono cartridges and stereo setups, condition of the needle and if the record is cleaned before playing (or not cleaned) affects the way a vinyl record sounds. You can look at a record with the naked eye and not see micro imperfections which might affect the music and the sound. There are just too many variables. I listen to records after cleaning them. If I do not hear skips or pops or snaps and I do not see noticeable scratches, then as far as I am concerned, that record is Mint.
