Description
TOMMY FLANAGAN – “Overseas” (1958) Prestige-7134 Incredibly rare and sought after original yellow label 446 W. 50th St., NYC Prestige pressing MONO
Content Notes: Wow. This is an historical artifact to say the least. This is Flanagan’s trio of Wilbur Little (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums). Flanagan plays piano. It was recorded live in Sweden, and it’s Little’s first appearance on Prestige. This is totally original – a legendary set.
Cover Condition: Strong VG
Record Condition: Strong VG (very clean)
Condition Notes: Considering this is 52 years old, it’s in great condition. The laminated front cover has clear tape along the bottom seam, the spine, and 1-inch of the top seam from spine inward. The only splitting I can see is in the middle of the bottom seam, but it’s been repaired with the tape. There is a black ink stamp on the back cover that reads “Not for Sale.” There’s also a small name, “Flay,” written on the back cover in blue ballpoint pen ink. There’s a small clear sticker on the back cover that reads “Walt De Silva California Record Distributors Republic 1-8601.” The front cover is mostly nice with a few discolorations from the tape along the edges and some minor lamination peels at jacket opening. The original yellow label 446 W. 50th St., NYC label pressing (deep groove both sides with RVG machine stamped into dead wax - true 1st press) has a “Not for Sale” ink stamp on side b of the label. The vinyl has some very light scuffs, but they are mostly superficial. This plays through with only very minor surface noise. It’s not mint, but it’s a pretty clean copy all things considered!
All records are original pressings. I do not sell any bootlegs or reissues.
