Tomorrow featuring Keith West 1/1 1st Stereo Press 1968
This rare and very collectable first pressing plays with stunning audio on both sides with no interference. As always I played every track in full and as always I have given an honest appraisal of each one. This iconic psychedelic classic easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing such is the sonic quality on offer here. The clarity, depth and power of the audio is second to none which in a way is not surprising because one, the vinyl is visually stunning and two, has hardly been played based on the audio and the minimal spindle wear. This album has been so well preserved and that applies to the cover and inner sleeve also. I do not like to use the word 'rare' very much but it certainly applies here!
The cover is in fantastic condition and has clearly not been handled very much. It is so clean and hopefully the photos do it justice. The original EMI inner is also in superb shape with hardly any wear.
As this is a genuine first press the cover is black and white and of course it has a 1/1 matrix. Interestingly the stampers are R1 for S1 and G1 for S2. I don't think there was G1/G1 but there was a G1/R1. Regardless this is one of the earliest first pressings and not many were pressed that much is definite.

Visual description
The vinyl is in beautiful condition with an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen and no scratches. Under a strong light I can only see a very small number of ultra faint hairlines with just one small one on each side that is a little more obvious, still faint though. The yellow / black Parlophone labels are in superb condition with no marking / writing and only very minimal spindle wear. The KT tax code can clearly be seen on the S2 label. A visually stunning vinyl!
Play grading
The run in on S1 is so clean with barely any background and just by that and the visual 'look' of the record you already know it has been so well preserved and will play well. It does not disappoint! The psychedelic intro on the classic 'My White Bicycle' is 'as new' without any background and the opening verse and chorus are of the same high end standard. The clarity of sound is stunning and it continues in the same precise way with literally no intrusion on the audio. Every vocal and instrumental section play with exceptional quality and there is not single negative, even the fade out plays perfectly with not even a dust tick. This is Mint in every way it just could not play with any greater precision.
'Colonel Brown' plays with a clarity and depth that more than matches the opening track. No ticks, clicks, pops or static it is Mint from start to finish. Both of these two opening tracks are very busy and yet the sonic quality is as 'fresh' as it ever was. Stunning!
The very quiet build up intro on 'Real Life Permanent Dream' is incredibly clean with just one very light tick and a couple of barely audible statics. So so close to perfect! As the volume increases the audio is indeed perfect and West's first vocal is just as strong with zero intrusion. This sitar Indian themed psychedelic number continues to play with phenomenal quality and I cannot overstate just how pristine the audio is. Again each note is so clean and succinct and through to the fade out the playback is superb! Mint- is an honest appraisal of the audio.
The first vocal on 'Shy Boy' plays with great precision and this clarity is prevalent throughout. I do not wish to sound repetitive but once again there is no background to be heard - not one dust let alone anything more. If it wasn't already it is now obvious this classic record has hardly been played! Mint
'Revolution', of course co-written with Steve Howe, plays with sensational audio from the get go. The intro is flawless and the opening 'vocal' is equal to that. The first chorus is 'as new' and from then on it plays exactly as you would want it to. In fact what you really notice is just how strong and deep the audio is - the depth of sound is so impressive. There is no 'muddiness' to the sound and perhaps even more rare I did not detect any inner groove distortion. Perhaps just a hint on the final chorus but so so minimal and hardly worth a mention. The end instrumental is just STUNNING - once more the audio is so rich and deep - if you are lucky enough to win this just listen to this section very intently, incredible sonic quality here. A classic psychedelic track in so many ways - I will grade as Mint- but is the minus really required?!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another super clean run in and then the intro on 'The Incredible Journey Of Timothy Chase' plays with great precision as does the opening vocal. Thereafter it plays so clearly and again there is a real depth of sound here. No ticks, clicks etc this is a Mint start to S2.
'Auntie Mary's Dress Shop' plays with impeccable quality with no intrusion whatsoever. Once again the clarity and warmth of the audio is so good and West's vocals especially are so clean and precise. The high octane passage at the end could not play any better and this is another Mint track.
'Strawberry Fields Forever' keeps up the standard and plays with outstanding quality and... no interference. No surprise there I guess! A little 'heavier' than the original it is nonetheless an interesting take on the Beatles' version. Twink very busy at the end! Mint- at the very least.
The intro on 'Three Jolly Little Dwarves' is 100% perfect and... continues in the same way. Supposedly written while West was experimenting with LSD (!) it plays with great power and depth and no intrusion. Is the clarity not quite on the same level? Perhaps more to do with how it was recorded / produced so let's say Mint-
'Now Your Time Has Come' has a very similar sonic quality 'feel' about it. The opening vocal is very strong and it proceeds in the same way. The long instrumental section incorporating Howe's solo cannot be faulted and the final vocal has no intrusion either. I don't think the vocals are quite as clear as elsewhere but again that is probably due to how it was recorded etc. It still sounds fantastic! It is so so minor and wouldn't be fair to downgrade and I think Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.
'Hallucinations' concludes this classic album in fine style with zero interference. Perhaps a mild hint of inner groove distortion but nothing that gets in the way of the audio. The playback is still so rich and deep and Mint- is again deserved.
In summary this rare first pressing plays with incredible audio and basically no interference. As stated it is a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic and I am very confident that it would not be possible to find a better, cleaner version. There cannot be many of these left with no interference on either side! The clarity, depth and power of the audio is stunning and you can see why this album is now regarded as one of the greatest psychedelic rock albums ever written! In conjunction with a superb cover this will impress any avid collector I am sure.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The G & L Patents pending cover is in lovely condition with hardly any wear, nothing obvious that's for sure. The edges have no rubbing and the thin pinched spine is stunning also! You also notice just how clean all the corners are and only the right hand ones have a minimal and I mean very minimal amount of wear. The opening edge is in great shape with only minimal handling wear. I am sure many would say the laminated front cover is perfect - only the right edge has some minor 'specks' on the area that isn't laminated. If I'm being honest 'staining' is not the right word for it because it is so so minimal! The laminate itself is in fantastic condition with no splits or lifting, just a couple of small faint creases next to the spine. The back cover is just as impressive, perhaps more so because of course it isn't laminated. It is so clean and the white background has no marking at all. The flipbacks remain 100% attached to the cover and have only light marking / staining on the edges, the top and right edge mainly. I am so tempted to grade this as Near Mint- but I will say Ex+ just to err on the side of caution. It is a superb example regardless and rarely seen as STUNNING as this today.
The original EMI inner is in superb condition also with no side splits or tears, no marking (well just a couple of faint spots) and only very minimal creasing. Near Mint- applies here!
